Summary: So you think 2002 was a tough year?
Review: How many of us that have grown up after WW2, and have seen the events of 9/11/02 think "why us", why would someone pick on the United States. I am 41, married, am priveleged to live and enjoy a nice life. 9/11 stopped me cold, as I lost a childhood friend at the Pentagon. That was the only one I lost, but the feeling was traumatic! I can't imagine how anyone could have lived through ww2..but Ludwig has helped .Ludwig Knapp has brought his world of "Germany, Hitler and WW2", to my world. His writing style put me at those camps,eatingandconversing with a past generation...like reliving a dream. I've passed the book on to 3 people so far, all 3 have thanked me. Mr. Knapp certainly has a great talent for painting a mental picture, and I can't wait for his next novel!

Summary: Like a look into the mind of a dictator
Review: Mr. Knapp has presented a unique look into the mind of a dictator and how such a person was able to affect an entire population. Mr. Knapp is able to convey that not all citizens were negativly influenced by the Nazi propagnada machine. The reader is struck by the fact that the young Mr. Knapp is able to maintain both his humanity and dignity throughout a most difficult period in his life. This book is quite relavant in that similar regimes exist today, often without national boundries. A factinating read.

Review: The book gives a new insight into every day life under Hitler through the eyes of child. It is truely absorbing and I could not put it down until I completed reading. I thank the author for this excellent book.

I have come away from reading it with a broader understanding of topics that tend to be taught from only one point of view. This is a valuable asset, and I'm glad I had the oppotunity to read it.
