Rating: Summary: More Than Just Good Looks Review: This book is big and unveils the story behind the legendary American-born Australian international movie star. While most famours movie stars seemed to have been determined and willing to follow a career in acting, Mel Gibson has sort of 'fallen' into it when his sister enrolled him at the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney. It took him about a year to actually take acting seriously, and just before graduation his lucky numbers came up when he was casted in the lead role for Mad Max (The Road Warrior). The rest is history. The author Clarkson, shows us a Gibson who is hard to pin down, who likes to have a good time, who knows his worth, especially in the later years, but who has his own morals, sometimes disturbing, and who likes to keep his life as private as he can possibly can. This books is amazingly well researched, although by the end of it, one can't help feeling that they've read every other person's opinion on Gibson and know little about the man himself. Thoroughly enjoyable, though, if you like Mel Gibson.
