Summary: A good talker
Review: Amazing. He could talk a dog off a meat wagon. After I read it I sold a bunch of stuff I'd never been able to sell before. This guy is as good as Og Oglar.

Summary: What Objections?? ....
Review: Before my first read of this book, I actually asked that question. Then, as I was 2/3rd's of the way finished, I realized that I have experienced several objections. Most of which I had accepted as reasons to move on.

Through this book, I have learned that all sales people experience objections, and that it is the savvy salesperson who responds to those objections as though she is a guide, leading her prospect towards her solutions.

Through reading this book, I have written so many notes in the margins, and in a binder that I had to stop to type the details out, then add to them, as I evolved.

I really appreciate this book, because as someone who sells services, and not products, yet, I was able to write directions that work in closing sales to even the most difficult of prospects. I recommend this book to anyone, rather or not you are in sales, because this teaches you to persuade others to accept your ideas, thoughts, products and services. ....

Summary: zig you're alright
Review: but your book didn't knock my socks off. At least two thirds of the book are more or less a waste of time and teach about closing only in the form of annecdotes - then every little story has a headline and the "close" gets a name, the soundso-close, and he drones on and on and then towards the end of the book finally he is getting somewhere. Still, I think that Ziglar is mostly good at selling cooking pots, (I even believe he was good at it), and himself. But since buyers and markets always change and salespeople should change alltogether with them in order to stay on top, we should turn to other authors in the meantime. I recommend SPIN Selling and QBS. This one here is still at times enjoyable and I am not saying I didn't learn anything or that I wasn't inspired at times. But not a treat and no matter how good he's been and still is, old school is over and I am looking for something fresh. When you're not Zig, don't sell like him, it may not work. Everything from chapter 25 on, however, is worth the money, this is where he covers objections and how to handle them. Also, I never knew the guy (I'm German). When I started to listen to his audio programs on motivation (How to stay motivated) he made a lot more sense to me.

Summary: Phantastische Anleitung für jeden im Verkauf/Kundenbetreuung
J. Summary: A book worthwhile to read
Review: I am planning to go into the sales industry and the Zig ziglar's secrets of closing the Sale is my first book I picked up. I find it to be very informative and has great examples.

The stories also keep you interested and at times, it is hard to put down the book. Although there are sections that I disagree to, I still find this book to be very worthwhile to read.

Summary: Three star book, but Zig makes it worth reading, add a star!
Review: I enjoyed the book by the end. The stories he shares are intresting and come from a man who can sell. I enjoy his books in general. This one is very good the last 60 pages or so. If you want more meat then turn to "Cars and People How to Put the Two Together" for automotive sales. Try SPIN selling as well.

Summary: Worth a read - even if you are not in sales.
Review: I find it ironic that one of the reviews below states "be devious and pushy" as a summary for the book. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Ziglar constantly illustrates how important it is to understand your customer, and at all times, treat them with respect. Ziglar even mentions in the beginning of the book that a salesman who tries to be devious and pushy won't make it very far in the world of selling as his customers will desert him.

This book is excellent for more than just selling. It can be used in every day conversation with other people to help to understand their point of view, and for them to understand your point of view.

If you are even remotely involved in sales, you need this book.

And, like Zig says, when you read it, make certain you have a pen in your hand and you make marks in the book.

I have decided to add a little to my review, after selling using the techniques in the book. Using Ziglars techniques, I moved from a rank beginner in my selling field, to the third highest paid salesperson in my section in under a week. Now, one month later, I am neck and neck tied for first place in sales in my section. It is my goal to be first, and Ziglar's book must be credited with giving me this boost.

I am now making more money in the sales field than I was in a technical computer position.

Summary: EXCELLENT
Review: I have bought three copies of this book - the second one to replace the first one I wore out, and the third one for my son who's just finished college with a degree in finance. The advice I gave him was that if he can apply the concepts of this book, in dealing with peaple, and to his career, he cannot fail to succeed. This book is both simple and complex and is a must have for anyone in sales.

Summary: The only book anyone in direct selling needs to own
Review: I use this book constantly as reference, to improve, and build on every selling approach, and closing senario.

Summary: Gave Me My Start
Review: I'm happy to write this review, because this book, and Tom Hopkins, gave me my start in selling. Zig has studied selling assiduously since the 1950's, taken copious notes, and condensed them into what is essentially an encyclopedia. It's entertaining, informative, and it works! I haven't read his latest opus, Ziglar on Selling, but look forward to doing so in the near future.
