Rating: Summary: I Get it Now Review: Not sure what this was all about, so I figured I would plunk down $40 for this book, and I'm glad I did. The book puts things into perspective for me, more so than other books I've read on the topic. Also, I thought the views were well balanced...down-to-earth...defining the ROI, as well as the technology. It is a bit technical in places, but does not seem to talk too much above the heads of those that are less technical. The figures are helpful, however.
Rating: Summary: Terrible like his other books Review: Someone please tell Linthicum that he cannot write. Repetitive, vague, did I say repetitive. The figures are terrible. Very simle and elementary. A waste of money
Rating: Summary: OK as a nontechnical overview, although with flaws Review: This is a good book highlighting application integration, and how it extends to Web services. I was very happy with the content, I thought the information was presented well, and the book is well organized. I'm not a technical type, and I found that this book was tough to follow in places without some additional background research as I was reading...even using the author's previous books. Overall it's worth the time and the money, I would recommend it to anyone looking to figure this stuff out, as I'm doing right now.

Rating: Summary: It's Clear to Me Now Review: With the advent of Web services I've been very confused about the relationship between Web services and EAI. This book clears things up, building on the concepts of EAI and how Web services fits into the stack, including where it works and where it does not. The author does a great job in providing the basics of this topic, as well as how SOA fits into the notion of EAI. The information seems objective, not the usual hype around Web services, but an understand of the opportunities as well as the limitations. The advanced topics section rounds out the discussion by taking the topic to a new level, breaking new ground. If you've read Linthicum's last 2 books than you'll find that this book is the final chapter in the trilogy of EAI, and the movement to service-oriented standards.
