Summary: A great book
Review: This book is an excelent source of information for those peoples interesting in the world of e-commerce.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: good advice for marketing your wares on the web
Review: This book is an excellent reference tool. Not only does the author use good case studies to make his point, he also provides a list of websites to study for your own information. (He also did this in his first book). Although a lot of the suggestions are based on common sense, the author also provides a lot of current information, i.e. viral marketing. Definitely a good starting point for anyone interested in learning about (and the some of the terminology for) e-commerce.

Summary: A MUST-READ for those who do not know e-business well !
Review: This book outlines 7 marketing strategies that businesses have to follow in order to gain a competitive edge in e-biz. Real-life examples are provided to illustrate how these strategies to be implemented.

I highly recommend this book to those who are involved in marketing and strategic planning, especially those who are not aware of the paramount importance of e-commerce. This book has sharpened my strategic insight. Thanks author !

I wish the author can bring us more good read in the future.

Summary: Worth my money
Review: This is one of the best books available on e-Commerce marketing. Mr. Schwartz is very tuned in to current market strategies. I was amazed that after I would finish a chapter, I would see a news article about a company that reflected that very strategy. After reading this book, I am now able to recognize and use these strategies.

Summary: A Classic
Review: This is the best book I have ever read. If you are an internet entreprenneur you must read this book because it explains all of the strategies for survive in this digital era.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: great introduction to the web economy
Review: This was the first book I read about the lessons learned in the web economy. I read it in one sitting and learned a great deal. The author provides many real world examples about what worked and what didn't. However, bear in mind that the rules are still being written and rewritten as we speak. Also, there wasn't really much in the "digital darwinism" of the title, catchy as it sounds.

Summary: Survive the chaotic next phase of Web commerce
Review: What will the Web economy look like as evolution escalates and we witness the real conflicts, surprises, new developmental stages and turning points? Will it be uncertain? Absolutely. Unpredictable? Most assuredly. Unusual? Rather so. Unruly? Quite often. Unsustainable? It has been thus far. Undramatic? No chance. Unsafe? Bloody awful. Unrewarding? Not if you read this book.

Summary: A well-balanced book
Review: When I first got hold of this book, the foreword immediately struck me. It is the kind of book that will get you glued and make you want to finish it. It is fully packed with content on various topics surrounding the e-commerce paradigm. The biggest help that this book gave me is the full appreciation of affiliate marketing and partnering with Amazon.com and Linkshare.com. If not for this book, I would have start in a different way in my digitalfilipino.com web site. I find the case studies informative as well as it gives a reader a full perspective on how the Internet business model is different from the traditional one.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Concise observation
Review: When I first read the table of content, the strategies seems like 'common sense', but as I read on, the observation of Evan Schwartz about 'e-business' is very concise. While people sometimes have a tendency to focus on technology rather than strategy and creativity, this book surely provides a good view point on the constantly evolving business world.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A good read, but could go further
Review: While we are all familiar with e-business, and the basic ideas how it works, there are many questions of strategy that deserve to be examined. This book looks at some of the main issues underlying e-business, and why some companies survive and others don't.

Author Schwartz analyzes several forms of selling over the Internet, presenting case studies, and explaining why some companies make it, and others die out.

While the book is well-written, concise, and notably free of techno-babble and gee-whizitude, the only thing I feel is lacking is true insight. As a journalist, the author is looking at all this from the outside, having interviewed business execs and dot.com geeks, but lacks any real experience in the business world of his own.

All in all it is a valuable read, even though it treats the readers a bit like children (with the little summaries at the end of each chapter called "Executive Survival Guides". Watch out, though - this book was written in 1998, and will quickly be out of date, like many other such books, since the technologies and players change so fast. Read it now, or don't read it at all.
