Summary: Real Japan!
Review: I did exactly the opposite of what "Mark" in this book did. While Mark grew up in US and moved to Japan, I grew up in Japan and moved to US. I had some good chuckles as I read about how things were at the Corporate-X as they were exactly what I experienced when I worked in Japan.

I would recommend this book to anybody who is considering a career opportunity on the other side of the pacific and atlantic oceans, as this book will prepare you to jump into a new culture and environment. Even if Japan is not your destination, you'll experience the similar confusion, excitement and surprise as Mark did in Japan.

This book is so realistic (meaning that it contains no over-exaggeration!) that it even gave me homesick...

Summary: Fascinating Look
Review: I think that this book is a fascinating look into living and experiencing a new culture. I think anyone who has ever had the opportunity to work in a different country and experience a new culture can relate to the humorous, shocking, as well as serious experiences that Mark has as he is a new grad of MIT and finds himself working for a Japanese company in Japan for the first time. His humor as well as insights into Japanese culture make this a fascinating book.

While this book is a joy to read,it is also very informative about Japanese culture, including areas such as Corporate Japan, the education system in Japan, family life in Japan, and social expectations, which I believe are often misunderstood by many Americans.

Summary: Life in Japan

Interspersed with lucid descriptions of various interesting anecdotes and riveting pictorial sketches, the writers were very successful in captivating my interest until the very end.

Summary: Fascinating Read!
Review: Kenneth writes a detailed and fascinating read. What an experience. Having stayed in Japan myself for a while, I found No Elbow Room to confirm some things I had suspected about living in Japan. Great book!

Summary: Ray
Review: Reading this book created a strong desire to visit Japan. The authors wit and humor was especially refreshing. I could feel the love and respect he has for the Japanese people. I am a business owner and I really enjoyed reading about the mindset of a different business culture. Here in America we have our own way of doing business. I believe we can learn much from our friends across the sea about being productive. Mr. Andrews brought this point home with a real commentary about his own business and cultural expirience.

Summary: BRITA
Review: This book shows a wonderful insight into the life of an American working in Japan. What an opportunity to realize the differences between Western and Eastern cultures. Told with candor and wit;this is a refreshing, eye-opening unusual story with many surprising adventures.

Summary: No Apologies With Humor
Review: What a world-wind tour of the Japanese Business culture! Mr. Andrews makes no apologies and tells it like it is in this humorous and perceptive look at how business is structured and conducted in Japan. A must read for people thinking of doing business in Japan and helpful for the casual visitor who is interested in how and why the Japanese culture is so foreign to our own. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it!

Summary: A study in contrasts
Review: What an interesting story of the differences in two cultures and how a young man adjusted to them. I really enjoyed reading about Mark's adventures in Japan! The artwork really was a lighthearted addition to the book. I wish Mark well in writing additional books about his life experiences.
