Rating: Summary: Possibly good, but nearly incomprehensible writing style. Review: DeMark is a noted, productive author. He has at least one other book and numerous articles in Futures magazine to his credit. Some of his methods for trading do not require computer power to use, just price charts. His writing, however,is insufferable. Faults include the following: Verbosity: On page 16 I found a sentence with over 90 words, followed at once by another one even longer. I have three college degrees, but I want to be taught, not challengd. Failure to Verify: This man comments unfavorably on other mehods, but fails to present any data on how well his suggestions have worked in tests. Repetition: His copyrighted TD Sequential method appears in both his books and in Futures Magazine as well. Other methods cited in this book are found in recent Futures articles as well. Annoying Egoism: I remember who developed the ideas, without preceding each name with "TD."
Rating: Summary: If you are serious about markets--this book is "MUST" readin Review: I am a full time trader and money manager. I have studied the market fundamentally and been certified with a CFA, as well as a CPA. I am also a CMT(chartered market technician). I believe only a fool can profess to manage money and trade without some knowledge of the economy and fundamentals. Relying solely upon technical analysis is a mistake BUT, on the other hand, to ignore it would be financial suicide. I recommend if one is to use technical analysis at all then he apply the best information available. I believe the source of that information is Thomas Demark. I've read the critics' remarks and other than a dissatisfaction of his writing style or his prose, nothing negative about the "fundamnetals" of his ideas has ever been voiced. To the critics--"you may not like the messenger but do heed his message because it's the best out there."
Rating: Summary: These indicators are on my data terminal Review: I was surprised when my fellow trader on the desk told me that the DeMark indicators were prevalent throughout the industry and that the Bloombeg, ILX Thomson, CQG, and Reuters machines include these with tgeir services. I have read the authors' bools and have tried to pogram the formulas myself and now realize i could have found them on the machine in front of me. What a pleasant surprise! I love them and they do help my trading and timing.
Rating: Summary: most complete book on technical analysis Review: The beginning market trechnician can benefit immensely from these sound trading principles and the sophisticated trader can reap much greater rewards from this exceptional book. The author's approach to an explanation of market dynamics removes the confusion associated with other books on this topic. The techniques are objective and mechanical; whereas other texts on this genre are subjective and unclear. The author's other book, New Science of Technical Analysis is similarly unique and is highly recommended for trading audiences as well.
Rating: Summary: for a technical devotee, this book is essential reading Review: The dichotomy of reviews--either love or hate--this book's contents appears to be a by-product of the readers' level of market involvement. If one has studied the markets or if one is deteremined to have a solid foundation in market dynamics, this book is required reading. If one requires spoon feeding and desires to make no attempt to understand market behavior, this book is useless. Making money is difficult for even expereinced traders and to acquire even small increments of knowledge is valuable. I learned alot about markets and trading from this book and with the proper outlook most determined should as well.
