Rating: Summary: Must reading for tax professionals Review: As a CPA and tax professional, this book is the best reference book that I have read on stock options. It is comprehensive and translates complicated tax rules to understandable nontechnical language. I consult it frequently and consider it must reading for tax professionals.
Rating: Summary: One of the few comprehensive accurate resources available Review: I found Pastore's "Stock Options" book to be an essential resource for any employee or entrepreneur needing to understand this very complex subject. It is one of the few comprehensive accurate resources available on the topic. While my book "Engineering Your Start-up" contains some overlapping material and more specific guidance to the entrepreneur in granting stock options, Pastore's book is an essential supplement. It is more complete in some areas, and is up-to-date on the related tax laws. The financial risk of not optimizing one's tax exposure in deciding when to exercise or sell stock options, for example, far exceeds the cost of this book. I recommended to all my friends who have any stock options at all, to buy, read, and keep this book for future reference.

Rating: Summary: This book is a "must have" for CPAs Review: I was preparing a client's return who had an ISO preference. His (former) employer is an NYSE listed firm. (Large HR and tax departments) I opened Mr. Pastore's book to check the calculation of this preference. In less than a minute, I determined that my client's W-2 was wrong (by over $150,000). Turned out that lots of other employees' W-2s at this company were also incorrect. This book saved my client a bundle, and made me a hero. This is the best $40 you'll ever spend if you have one client with employee stock options
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: I've worked with a lot of executives who have been awarded stock options and this has immediately become my "go to" resource for information and reference. The book is clearly written and exceptionally organized. It's a "must read" for financial advisers who advise executives and compensation professionals inside any publicly traded company which is contemplating, or already has in place, an option program for executives and employees.
Rating: Summary: Very informative, technical, and dry. Review: Just the book I was looking for in 1999. I applaud Pastore's contribution of clear explanations regarding the types of stock options, tax implications, etc. I used the knowledge gained to weed out prospective financial advisors during interviews. You'd be surprised how many of them don't understand tax law when it comes to employee stock options.
Rating: Summary: Excellent explanation of a rather complicated subject Review: Robert Pastore has presented the subject of Stock Options with a clear focus on de-mystefying the various issues surrounding Stock options. The book is a easy read, with clear and descriptive presentation of "what if" scenarios. Examples of exercise, hold, cashless sale, AMT are extremely well presented and easy to follow. I recommend this book as a "must own" to everyone that own's ISO's.
Rating: Summary: Helped me Review: This book helped me greatly with some stock options I got from my work. I had NSO stock and had not idea how the taxes worked out on it and when the best time was to exercise. Well this book, I made a good decision and made $80,000 on my stock options.
Rating: Summary: Abundance of useful information, Very easy to read Review: This book is the most efficient piece of writing on the taxation of stock options that I have read. I can extract more useful information with less effort than from any other source. The book explains the taxation of stock options in plain English. Anyone who has been granted stock options or who is an advisor to people with stock options should consider adding this book to his or her library.
