Summary: Be Careful!!!!!
Review: A rational no-nonsense look at commodities. It's something that covers concepts that successful traders have used for years. The idea of base costs for a product.. Buy low and sell high. This book gives you the numbers. Valuable research every one can benefit from. Just closed a deal in Cotton based on book numbers and net nearly 500% in 6 months. Try doing that in the market. These opportunities don't arrive every day however, when they do, this book describes how spot them and to capitalize on them in a big way.

Summary: Why didn't someone think of this sooner.
Review: I have been looking for years for a great way to invest. I'm so glad I finally found this system.

I get the prices e-mailed to me every day from the data service in the book, check to see if there are any new trades, and make money. I am spending less than 5 minutes per day just like the book says and last month I made my first profit. I was a little concerned about the price but knowing what I know now I would have paid twice that.

I've heard so many people say buy low, sell high. But how low and how high? Finally someone told me. Some books are so vague and subjective that you can never decide when to buy or sell.

One TV system that claims to make you rich says to look for paterns. The only paterns I could see were easy when you have the whole chart for months back. But what about at the right of the chart.

This is a great systematic aproach. I'm looking forward to a prosperous year.

Summary: Dont discount this book!
Review: I have read all of the existing reviews for this book, and the truth is that everybody has a point. The profits that some reviewers claimed to have made are very achieve-able. Profits like this happen on a regular basis. On the other hand, to trade these markets exactly as the book says could get quite expensive. The author does not hide this fact. The numbers and cost of downdraws are there in black and white. The important thing to note is that the system is a good one. You do not have to play to the levels suggested, nor do you have to enter these markets at such high levels. This is by no means a get rich quick scheme. However, it is possible to make large amounts of money with this general system. This book is not the be all, and end all of position trading, but if you have a true interest, and the willingness to pursue it, then this is a book that can really help put the puzzle together. My advice is to use this system on paper, and learn what it has to teach. It wont cost a dime, and you will learn quite a bit. This book is a step in the right direction....keep in mind it is only a step, but one that I would recommend if you truly have the commitment and desire. Best of luck to all!

Summary: Different Way of Trading
Review: I purchased this book a couple of days ago. This was a fairly easy read and a different approach to trading. The investor invests in this as if he was a long term trader in a mutual fund. I think this is a great trading method. However, the issue of contract rollover has me a little concerned. This issue can either benefit or hinder your trading. If a contract rollover trades higher, this can be a disaster to an account. If the contract rollover trades lower, this can make your profits even greater.

For example, lets say that cocoa is trading at 500 and the rollover contract is trading at 550. You the trader has just lost 500 dollars because of the gap up. Let's look at an example of when the contract trades lower. If we have the same scenario where cocoa is trading at 500 and the rollover contract is trading at 450... you the trader has just gained 500 dollars. Since you didn't experience the drawdown from 500 to 450, when the market goes back to 500 you are up 50pts or 500 dollars.

I'm going to conduct a test on ALL the past trades and see how contract rollover acutally effects the various commodities. This test will be based on rolling over to a new contract when a distant contract has greater volume two consecutive days, thus rolling on the open the third day.

I will post the results for each commodity after completing it. The results will be based on the beginner trading method.

Summary: I would give it ten stars if I could.
Review: I started trading this system in May of 2000 since then I have been part of two great trades. The first was a sugar trade that I am still in. The current profits for that trade are around $6,000 and I got in a cocoa trade that has now made over $10,000.

To say that I am happy to have discovered this system would be a great understatement.

The system teaches you how to wait for the perfect timing for the trade and enter the market when the risk is at it's lowest point. I use the data service that the author provides to get end of day data which makes it so easy to keep track of the trades.

Buy this book, you won't regret it.

Summary: Short Term Read, Long Term Gains
Review: If you are looking for a "get rich quick" book, then skip past this one. Mr. Turk's system is particularly tailored for the long term. His book is short but sweet and will walk you through his system of trading commodities. It is nice to have the charts on the different commodities to help me when to know to place a trade. The historical data is also very helpful. While the beginner might also need to get primer book to understand commodities (the beginner sections are a little sparce), any one with commodities experience should be able to understand and implement this system.

Summary: Buy Low, Sell High! That's the only way to make profits!
Review: This book advocates one of the best ways to make money from commodity trading, that is to jump in and buy when you think a commodity has reached it's average lowest price or production cost. If it goes lower, buy again. This is basd on the fact that all commodities have its intrinsic value. It couldn't remain very cheap for long, as many bargain hunters will eventually pushes the price up again. All you need is a monthly or yearly chart to determine the lowest and highest point. This method is meant for the patient and long term traders with good financial back up only. No cutting of losses, therefore there are no losses to each trade. When the trade becomes profitable, ride the profits till the target point. However, if you are a day trader who do not have much financial stamina to endure the floating losses and the patience to wait for the lowest or highest price, this method may not be attractive to you. Certainly, this is a very logical way to make money when the commodity price is very low. But be careful of doing the same for selling as nobody will ever know how high the price will go up if the market is in a crazy bullish trend. You will be completely wiped out even if you did a one lot average sell per movement. If you have a couple of trader friends who are willing to jointly buy this book with you, then its worth the cost. A good read, short and to the point.
