Summary: Highly Recommended for The Serious Indie Musician
Review: Buy it. This is a very practical book about the reality and truth of making it as an independent musician. Work through this book, apply what you learn from it and see if you don't start earning more money and taking yourself and your career more seriously.

All indie artists should have this book on their bookshelf as an outline of how to earn a living in their music career. There is basic music business knowledge here that is invaluable, opportunities and markets that you may not have thought of, practical tips on how to present yourself and your music to increase your bookings, your CD and merchandise sales, website traffic and publishing deals. Great ideas and advice about promotion, designing your press kit and website, how to make your own video, playing live, getting air play and press, the reality of touring, how to build relationships in the business, using direct mail and fanbase mailing lists and getting corporate sponsorship. Also a great section with A&R staff, music publishing companies and Film/TV supervisors speaking out about what gets their attention and what they are looking for.

This book is a good start to taking your music career to the next level of success. Buy it, read it, apply it and don't look back. You'll be on your way to a good living in this business of music before you know it. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Information is power!
Review: I bought your book How I Make $1000,000 a year in the music business from Amazon. Read it in two sittings and now I am so full of information in my head and in the form of pdf files that I don't know where to start. I signed on for your 10 day lessons and the killer promo packet. Information is power they say, and you certainly have opened up a floodgate for me. Thank you!

Summary: best music business book I have read
Review: I've read them all and this is easily the best book of its type out there today. These guys have done a great job of taking the big bad music business and breaking it down into small parts that ever a third grader could digest. The part about finding hidden work in the industry is priceless and I really appreciated the names and addresses or recommended resources in the back.

Summary: Book is thin on real ideas & strategies & VERY outdated
Review: Sorry Misters Hooper & Kennedy, but while the title of this book seems indeed quite alluring, you can hardly make 100K by following the vague and obvious advice given in this thin and outdated volume. I've been a struggling musician for about ten years and there's not alot here I wouldn't have figured out from my own common sense.

For a real, updated look at the business, I suggest you check out Bobby Borg's Musician's Handbook, or Justin Goldberg's The Ultimate Survival Guide to the NEW music Industry - Handbook for Hell - which is the best step by step program available ANYWHERE in the world independent music business stratgies. From what other musician's tell me, this book is just a lure into the world of a music marketing company that continually seeks more $ out of a very dry source -the unsigned, independent musician.

Summary: Obviously Self-Published.
Review: Think you know it all about the music business?
Think you have it all together? Well think again.
The book "HOW I MAKE 100 THOUSAND A YEAR IN THE MUSIC BUSINESS"
Is the most comprehensive A to Z book of it's kind.
No matter what stage of music you are in this book will give you
insight. This book tells the truth and does not candy coat the
business. The kind of advise you only learn by being there...
Life is short so take as many shortcuts as you can. This book tells it like it is...................

Summary: Learn to work through the "Biz" of the Music Business
Review: This book is an excellent resource for all those (especialy singer/songwriters like myself) who are firmly convinced that they can make a living with their art while still being true (And perhaps ESPECIALLY being true) to their music. It is a reminder that a musician doesn't have to sell out to sell CD's; that it's called the music business for a reason; and that success will come when people navigate the business aspect of their careers with clarity and vision.

This book provides constant reminders, in an easy to read format, of what to do and what not to do, to get your career moving. It's filled with actual stories, both good and bad, that help drive home the realization that "I can do this!" At the same time it's written in an upbeat manner so that it is encouraging to read in addition to being insightful.

Most definitely recommended!

Summary: Good primer
Review: This is a good book. I read it and recommend it for anyone in a band or anyone without an in depth knowledge of the music business. Many of the points it made I found refreshing and inspiring.
