Review: Before reading Charles Givens Financial Self-Defense, I was drifting aimlessly with my finances. I had purchased other financial books by supposed "experts" and listened to financial advice by other so called "experts" and came out on the losing end.

Charles Givens was a master at money strategies. He empowers us all to take control of our personal finances and not leave it in the hands of commissioned financial people and other financial authors who are using your ignorance for their bliss.

In Financial Self-Defense, Givens uncovers all of the tricks that various professionals do that costs us thousands and thousands of dollars over a financial lifetime.

This is one of three must read books. The other two are More Wealth Without Risk also by Givens and The Millionaire Mind. Another book to read is SuperSelf by Givens which will help you maximize effectiveness. For Wealth Builders, I also strongly recommend Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.

Be careful with other books written by people who do not have your best interests at heart. Givens is on your side. You'llbe surprised to find out who isn't.

Review: I actually like Financial Self Defense than More Wealth Without Risk. Givens really pulls out all the stops and reveals allof the deceptive practices by banks, insurance people, brokers even the IRS.I highly recommend this book in addition to More Wealth Without Risk.Givens is on your side. You'll be surprised who isn't.

Summary: SAVED MORE THAN $32,000 WITH THE GIVENS STRATEGIES!!!
Review: In 1992 I was devastated with a a divorce, loss of my job and loss of a loved one. I was emotionally and financially "blown away".

A friend loaned me a book that she said would help me financially. It was "More Wealth without Risk" (see my testimonial in More Wealth Without Risk reviews). I made a immediate financial turnaround.

Sold on Mr Givens strategies, I went out and bought 'Financial Self-DeFense" and saved an immediate $4,500 BY CANCELLING A CASH VALUE LIFE INSURANCE POLICY. I bought a term, non cash value policy saving over $800 per year in premiums with triple the protection that I had before. Without the techniques explained in Financial Self Defense, I couldn't have done this. My insurance company was fighting me the whole way and didn't want to let go of the money.

I also cancelled the charge guard on my credit cards, credit life on a a bank loan and extended warranty on my vehicle as well as credit life again. Was ! ! I a sucker or what? This amounted to an additional $734 in cash which I needed desperately at the time.

I also opened a Money Market Mutual Fund and started using this for all my checkwriting and earning 8% instead of the 3% that my bank was offering.

I moved the mutual fund that my parents started for me when I graduated from High School from a fee paying insurance company to a no fee (no load) pure mutual fund company and am getting much better returns and saving a "load" in unnecessary commissions.

In addition to More Wealth without Risk and Financial Self Defense, I would like to mention two other books that helped me tremendously at that time; Think & Grow Rich by Dr Napolean Hill and the greatest of all books, THE BIBLE.

The actual net return to me starting in my second year of following all of the strategies; Personal Finance, Tax Reducing and Powerful Investing in both MORE WEALTH WITHOUT RISK & FINANCIAL SELF DEFENSE WAS OVE! ! R $32,000!!!

Summary: How to Win the Fight for Financial Freedom
Review: There is a war going on out there and everyone has their hands in your pockets.

Fincancial Success is WAR and in Financial Self DeFense, the late, great Charles J. Givens offers defensive and offensive stratgies on how to win the war for financial freedom.

For me, by using just some of the insurance strategies was able to save over $... a year on life insurance. I took our family on a wonderful trip to Disney World on a satisfying tax deductible vacation, using just some of the tax strategies.

By using the 10% solution strategy, there is no limit to what we will save by retirement, which will be a lot sooner than what we had initially though, thanks to Givens.

We started and have revised (upwards) our dreams list and know that we can achieve them with the confidence that the Givens strategies has given us.

Also recommend More Wealth without Risk.

Review: This great book by the late, great Charles Givens along with More Wealth Without Risk is all the protecion you need to save yourself from dangerous advice disseminated from brokers, insurance salesmen, car dealers, financial advisors or planners.

Financial Self Defense is actually even more hard hitting that More Wealth Without Risk. One area that I saved was in buying cars. Following the advice in this book, I bought my dream car, sold my old car myself and pocketed nearly $10,000 in savings compared to what I would have spent had I followed conventional wisdom.

Great book Mr. "G". Rest in peace and thank you.

Summary: Now I have a "Black Belt" in Financial Self Defense!
Review: This great book by the late, great Charles J. Givens is a must read for anyone who is serious about making the most of their money.I first became a fan of Charles Givens through More Wealth without Risk and did incredibly well with mutuals.In Financial Self Defense, Givens goes even further and how to hang on to more of you've got.We set up a records management system ( I was a terrible organizer) and aligned our dreams and goals with values and set up the right strategies.We moved money that was sitting dead in low interest/high fee bank accounts to high yielding/no fee money market mutuals and poor performing CD'S to outstanding performing no load stock mutual funds. I like the fact that with mutuals, unlike CD's, there is no penalty for premature withdrawal. I still can't understand why banks charge you to get your hands on your own money, especially when they are paying so little. CD really stands for coming down! They are by no means--investments.We also moved money out of bonds into stock mutual funds. Using the strategies in Financial Self DeFense also enabled us to get out of a Universal Life Insurance Policy which we put into mutuals. By using the Life Insurance Clearinghouse and calling the toll free number in the book, we were able to get better insurance and pocket $3,700. It bothers me that my insurance agent was making big commissions off of us and his advice was costing us nearly $4,000 in unnecessary junk.We will be forever grateful to Givens and the Insurance Clearinghouse to getting us straight.This book was appropiately named because money is war and it seems that everybody has their hands in your pockets. Thanks to Givens exellent book, we are able to throw a financial "karate chop" to insurance agents, financial advisors, bank loan officers and even the IRS.Great book.

Summary: I almost missed it
Review: When I first heard of Charles J. Givens, I quickly dismissed him as a "get rich quick con man." Here was this handsome multi-millionaire with a beauty contest winner wife had the most popular tv show in America and practilly owned the NY Times best seller list for nearly 4 years with blockbuster after blockbuster books. It simply sounded too good to be true.

Then somebody handed me this tape "Financial Self-Defense" and I decided to try some of the techniques only to prove how wrong my friend was and save her from losing her money.

Lo and behold I found the advice by Givens actually worked. But I was still skeptical. After all I was a student of personal finance. I read the news magazines and the books by Tobias, Silvia Porter and Anita Van Gaspel, the only visible financial authors other than Givens. But I was also willing to be corrected and was in for a major financial awakening. I found that I had been getting the wrong advice by so called "professionals" like people who sell you certain products. It never occurred to me that these guys get extra money based on incentives and commissions. Seriously, is it to their advantage to show you how to cut your life, auto and homeowners insurance? Does the loan officer at the bank benefit if you make small extra principal payments on your mortgage and pay your mortgage loan off in half the time? The answer of couorse is no.

I almost missed the opportunity to turn my financial life around. My friend is doing quite well too with a paid off mortgage, rental properties, mutuals, tax liens, discounted mortgages and other investments all purchased with the savings from reading Financial Self-Defense and More Wealth without Risk.

For me it all started with this tape. Thank God my friend shared it with me. And thank God for Charles J. Givens!
