Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Continued Comprehensive Resource by a Pro
Review: As a seasoned developer/contractor/consultant, I much appreciate Mr. Noe's work here. The third edition is further evidence of a man who knows the development business and has made it applicable across the nation. My previous review stressed the practicality of Mark Noe's approach, with minimal academic "humbug". Now it's an even better guide to the development/construction process. Well detailed yet concise, a ready tool for the beginner as well as the seasoned developer.

Summary: Recommended by Author's Friends--Nobody Else
Review: Everyone who recommends this book either works or lives in the San Francisco area. It's many detractors are from scattered locations. Who got who's friends to write glowing recommendations?

Summary: Best Land Development Book
Review: I am a retired commercial broker, who practiced for thirty years in the Bay Area. Without any doubt, this revised 3rd Edition is the best book I have ever read concerning the whole range of develpment steps and problems, along with logical steps to solve these problems. If somebody says this book is "choppy and sparsely informative" like in one of the accompanying reviews and rates it one star, and all the other reviews are five stars, I would like to suggest this reviewer is completely wet, and doesn't know what he is talking about. This book is definitely a "must" for anyone contemplating development of any kind. Mark Noe really deserves six stars instead of a maximmum of five.

Summary: Extremely choppy and sparsely informative...
Review: I have purchased several books on real estate development in recent months. Despite what the positive things the other reviewers say, this book is pretty useless. The checklists, outlines and other sample documents in the book have almost no accompanying text to explain them. The result is a collection of instructional non-sequetors with little useful value. My advice- avoid this book.

Summary: A Superb New 3rd Edition
Review: I just purchased the Revised 3rd Edition of Mark Noe's GO/NO GO guide and am delighted that Mr. Noe has expanded, enhanced, and updated an already comprehensive and valuable reference document. I find the guide to be an invaluable tool for a retired businessman with growing interests and significant investments in real estate, construction, and property development. I have strongly recommended it to my partners and others I know who are involved in decision-making roles for construction projects, or who have a financial interest in such activities. This guide is a "must have" for anyone working in construction and real estate development, or the legal and financial functions that are an integral part of such activities.

Summary: Something doesn't seem quite right...
Review: I was extremely excited about ordering this book. I saw the 5-star reviews and thought this would be a great book to add to my real estate development collection. I was sadly mistaken and now believe that the author and his friends are behind the 5-star ratings.

This book contains a whole lot of checklists and bullet points, but lacks any clear explanations or descriptions. This seems like a half-hearted effort in which the author simply pieced together a number of his own forms and checklists. Don't get me wrong some forms are useful (hence the one star), but not useful enough to warrant the price. I quickly returned the book and recommend others to look elsewhere for real estate development info.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Don't believe the 5-star reviews
Review: I'm baffled by what book the 5-star reviewers were reading. This one is, as some others say, written in a disjointed, stream-of-consciousness style that makes it almost impossible to separate the few valuable pieces of information from the rest of the book. It appears to be a collection of the author's random notes, which he intended to eventually develop into a coherent book, but then decided it would be easier to publish as is. There was certainly nothing remotely approaching an editor involved. My next stop will be to read [...the] return policies, because this wasn't worth a fraction of the cost.

Summary: An Excellent, Concise Resource
Review: I've been using Mark Noe's GO/NO GO guide for some time now and regard it as one of the most valuable tools I've encountered for managing real estate development and construction projects. This concise, practical, pragmatic handbook provides a quick reference to most construction and development activities that I have encountered, and provides immediate answers for many common and uncommon questions and concerns. The logical presentation and case studies facilitate acquiring or enhancing key developer's skills before critical project concerns arise and need resolution in real time. Although some entries are brief, they serve to identify topics for further consideration. A very useful resource for the novice (and experienced) developer that wants a concise, portable reference to project issues and activities. I can't thank Mr. Noe enough for his fine Guide. I have recommended it to my associates in real estate development and construction, and also to professors who are teaching courses in project management.

Summary: A practical and informative "how to" book
Review: Now in a fully updated and expanded third edition, Mark Noe's Go/No Go: A Hands-On Guide To Successful Real Estate Development, Building Construction, And Renovation From Concept Through Completion is a practical and informative "how to" book specifically written and designed for those contemplating a real estate project. Divided into sections on "Project Feasibility" and "Making the Deal Work," Go/No Go is also filled with sample forms, notes, even true/false self-exams in order to better impart its wisdom to the reader. Before investing hundreds of thousands of dollars or more in any kind or category of costly real estate venture, it is undeniably prudent to first give Go/No Go a close and careful reading!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: DEFINITELY NO GO!!!!!
Review: While it appears that Mr. Noe has experience in real estate, this "book" will be of little or no assistance to anyone developing real estate. I put "book" in quotes because rather than sentences and paragraphs it is comprised of lists of items related to real estate development. However there is no instruction, interpretation, or guidance related to these items, merely list after list. I have been a Realtor for 20 years and help others develop property and develop for myself. This book is completely useless for both the novice and experienced developer. The only consolation is that it can be completed in about 15 minutes. I urge you to save your money, even though the title promises a clear and decisive path to real estate development, the text doesn't deliver anything more than lists of loosely related real estate terms.
