Summary: Field Tested
Review: You've just got on the plane to head home after you and your team "nailed" the negotiation, and secured the rest of the project ... as defined so far. Following the cocktails, and the attempt to fall asleep, you start to feel that achievers anxiety .... Do I really have control, or was it just luck? What about the projects which have been coasting whilst working this one into a product?

The Manager's Pocket Guide to Project Management is a good tool to leverage any project manager regardless of expertise, experience, or industry. For the experienced manager, the interpretation of all the juggled targets is like a star pitcher keeping track of the runners on base in the context of the inning, and the game. The tools are clearly there, but the good habits found in the pocket guide can help him/er stay out of trouble. For the novice, this guide acts as a target tracking system like the range-finder in a periscope, the view may be great, but knowing what that view represents is the key to keeping one's head.

Either stand-alone, or as a follow-up to the Project Manager's Partner (and its associated course), any project manager should keep this book in their briefcase for routine reference.
