Rating: Summary: An Essential Perspective Review: Having lived outside of the United States for several years, I was amazed at the accuracy with which Dr. Parker could articulate many of the things that I had witnessed (and that had often left me speechless). Dr. Parker ventures to address a subject that is changing and developing at an astonishing rate, simply by presenting timeless foundations and essential insight. Dr. Parker weaves a wide variety of research with her own vast experience as an expatriot to lead the reader through their own special journey across their own special boundaries. I highly recommend this book for people who have lived outside the U.S. and/or those who are willing to accept that perhaps America may not be the center of the universe.Globalization is a highly complex issue. It cannot be captured in a magic bottle. Globalization is technological, sociological, idealogical, chaotic, politicized, humanized, ecological, spiritual, contradictory and paradoxical - everything wrapped together. Barbara Parker does a tremendous service by addressing the hard and the soft aspects of this complex science in an organized and intellectually stimulating order. Globalization and Business Practice - Managing across Boundaries is among my most treasured reference and pleasure books.
Rating: Summary: An essential resource for International Business Review: This book is quite amazing! On the one hand it is virtually encyclopedic as a resource for contemporary managerial issues in International Business. On the other hand it is engaging and readable. As such it is an excellent resource for managers, students and researchers.
