Rating: Summary: Very good book Review: As an investment advisor, I often search for books (for my clients) that help explain the ins and outs of some particular aspect of investing. This past Christmas I purchased a dozen copies of this book and distributed them as gifts. From the feedback received, this book was well received. I selected the book for it's topic, asset allocation. Personally, I enjoyed the book and recommend it when people are looking for more help on understanding asset allocation. Other good books on the subject include Getting Started in Asset Allocation and the Intelligent Asset Allocator.
Rating: Summary: Simple, Straight-Forward Effective Strategies... Must Have!! Review: Frush sheds a powerful light on the primary issues that confront all investors looking to protect and grow their wealth. For me, I especially like the easy to follow outline. The book begins with a discussion of the fundamentals and then describes how to apply them to your portfolio. An excellent resource.
Rating: Summary: Loaded With Practical Information, Frush Hit The Mark Review: I found this book much easier to read and understand than most other books on investing and asset allocation. This is not one of those fluff concept books, rather it deals with very important issues using a sensible nuts and bolts approach. Frush definitely hit the mark with this one.
Rating: Summary: I wish I would have found this book earlier !!! Review: Many of us have heard of asset allocation and know that it is a good thing but very few of us know how to go about optimizing our portfolio. This book cuts through all of the confusion and offers and understandable and simple road map to protect and grow your portfolio. Whether you are new to asset allocation or a seasoned veteran, this book has valuable advice for you.
Rating: Summary: Look elsewhere for an introduction to Asset Allocation Review: Mr.Frush writes well and offers a cursory introduction to the fundamentals of asset allocation. A condensed version of these 243 pages might have lent itself nicely to a five-page article in one of the national monthly financial magazines.
If you are really serious about asset allocation start with William Bernstein's "The Intelligent Asset Allocator" or his "The Four Pillars of Investing". Then, go on line and Google ASSET ALLOCATION for a host of wonderful free informative websites. Several present model portfolios illustrating weightings among all subclasses, i.e., large cap value, international small growth, midcap blend, etc. In my opinion, the weighting of the asset classes is the prime determinant of portfolio performance.
Rating: Summary: Excellent help for navigating stormy financial seas Review: Reading this book is like climbing aboard a sturdy, secure boat to ply the stormy seas of money management. The author does a wonderful job of breaking down the asset allocation process into understandable, manageable steps. With its lists, worksheets, sample portfolios and "Golden Rules" of investment, this is the perfect How-To book for keeping your money safe and growing.
Rating: Summary: Great reference guide for managing your portfolio Review: Solid reference book. Author provides the key information necessary to help you set the course for your portfolio. It's written in a nice understandable and progressive manner that will make it a good read for all types of audiences, those with a financial background or the relatively uninitiated. The style of writing is very 'reader-friendly' -- Bonus points to the author for his construction of 'step-by-step' processes and interesting little lists, such as '5 biggest mistakes in investment policy statements' and '15 golden rules when building your optimal portfolio'. These are certain to leave you re-calibrating your investment approach through their fundamental and insightful logic and in my case at least, taking action to make changes for the better in terms of portfolio optimization. Numerous subjects receives comprehensive and intelligent explanation, such as drafting an investment policy and the definitions of assets classes -- leaving no questions unanswered and providing as in-depth a review of these subjects as you'll be able to find on any bookshelf. You will note that there are other areas that could use more depth for an individual truly managing their nest egg hands-on, such as tax implications / strategy, but overall the author does a good job providing the cornerstone information. Also -- additional bonus points for the application of entertaining, witty little quotations interspersed throughout the book -- really nice touch. Pretty good book all-in-all. If you're in the market for a comprehensive, well-written reference guide to protecting and growing your portfolio -- then look no further -- this book is for you.
