Rating: 5 stars
Summary: outstanding collection of essays by top IR/IPE theorists
Review: Top-notch collection of essays that stand the test of time. Ranges from economist Barry Eichengreen's "Dental hygiene and nuclear war: how international relations looks from economics,"
to Martha Finnemore and Kathryn Sikkink (of "Activists beyond Borders" fame) on "International norm dynamics and political change", to Robert Jervis' classic overview of "Realism in the study of world politics." Great overview of institutions by Lisa Martin and Beth Simmons. Helen Milner explores the emerging synthesis of international, American and comparative politics (a long overdue synthesis in the field of political science), and Ole Waever explores "The sociology of a not so international discipline: American and European developments in international relations" -- the latter increasingly relevant given the havoc that George Bush has wrought with trans-Atlantic relations post 9-11. Wonderful essays by editors Peter Katzenstein, Robert O. Keohane, and Stephen Krasner, and by James March, Geoffrey Garrett, Miles Kahler, Michael Mastanduno, Johan Olsen, and John Ruggie. A "must" for every IR/IPE scholar.
