Summary: A great book for those who admire great leaders
Review: Bailey's book is outstanding, essential reading for current or aspiring leaders in any field. It offers practical advice on everything from motivation to image to problem solving and makes clear throughout that relationships with employees, customers and one's own family must never be discounted.

"Plain Talk" is also a great read for those working for the leaders. It makes one eager to work for a company that rewards competence and loyalty through leaders who know what it takes to help a company -- and its employees -- succeed.

Read it, keep it, read it again. It's a book you'll learn from and enjoy.

Summary: PLAIN TALK requred reading.
Review: Over my 37 year career in business I have read many books on leadership and how to manage a company for success. PLAIN TALK ABOUT LEADERSHIP is more than your typical leadership/management book and it is written by someone that has REALLY run a large company and turned it into one of the most successful in its industry.

Just the fact that the author has "been there and done that" speaks volumes (no pun intended) in my opinion. PLAIN TALK is very well written but more importantly it contains down to earth advice. Advice that has actually worked for the author in real life, and advice that will be of benefit for anyone that wants to imporve their leadership/management skills. Not only does it cover important topics for all managers it contains Silver Bullets at the end of each chapter that serve as easy reminders for those who want to sharpen their leadership/management skills.

PLAIN TALK shoud be required reading for all those who want to be good leaders and managers.

Summary: Practical and Concrete
Review: The chapters in this book deal with examples of real world business situations and provide fascinating insight into practical solutions. There are lots of chapters so it's easy to pick up and read one or two of them without spending an hour. I felt, as I do when I read Peter Drucker, that the information was presented in a very readable and interesting format. Mr. Drucker has a nice way of presenting complex issues in a simple way. Mr. Bailey does the same thing.

A real plus with this book are the "Silver Bullets". After reading it I was able to quickly review each chapter and locate the key points using the tables of Silver Bullets. While I enjoyed reading the actual text, it's nice to have a summary of key items to refer to.

If you ever wished you had a friend who was an executive who would sit down with you and relate their management experiences, this will be a great book to read. The author presents the information in a very personable style and gives a lot of great examples of how he handled management challenges over the years.

If you don't have a management mentor in your life, this book is the next best thing.

Summary: A Management Book for Everyone
Review: This is a "must read" for every manager who aspires to be a leader. Bob Bailey has created a blueprint detailing all aspects of managing and leading a company.
