Summary: Very highly recommended
Review: All writers hear tales about "free money" out there going unused. But how many of us actually know where to find the money and how to apply for it? Hope Clark answers these dilemmas in FUNDS FOR WRITERS: THE BOOK. As a veteran of government service with a unique insight into the growing funds available, Clark educates writers on where to find sources that meet individual needs.

FUNDS FOR WRITERS: THE BOOK defines the funds available, including grants, fellowships, awards and contests. But it doesn't limit itself to the easy definitions; instead, it tackles such topics as nonprofits, partners, charities, and schools. In addition, Clark relates success stories, sources, and "free stuff."

An indispensable source with a wealth of information, in FUNDS FOR WRITERS: THE BOOK has something for everyone. Written in a clear, succinct style with a dash of humor, in FUNDS FOR WRITERS: THE BOOK is the perfect stocking stuffer. The book is dedicated to the late K.D. McIntosh, author and journalist--I feel certain that she would be delighted with the material presented, as am I. Very highly recommended.

Summary: A Good Source of Information
Review: Thank you, Hope for writing a book so needed by writers. We'reall familiar with the term "starving artists, " and I'm suremost of us would like to break out of that category sooner rather thanlater.

Funds for Writers: The Book does a good job of defining thevarious funding streams and explaining the difference between grants, fellowships, awards and contests. With her background in the nonprofit arena, Hope helps writers to understand the benefits ofcreating a non profit corporation.

The short bursts of informationare perfect for busy writers who prefer writing to reading aboutfunding sources. Hope has obviously spent an enormous amount of timeonline to compile so many targeted Web sites. I do wish, however, thelinks were annotated as the site name alone often tells the readerlittle about what's included. There are definitely funds for writerswho are willing to work hard and spend the time doing their homeworkand following the rules. This book does not promise easy money, but itdoes guide you in the right direction...
