Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great section on listening
Review: Though I am in an annual giving position and this uses major gift fund-raising examples, I found the information extremely useful. Especially useful was the explanation of HOW to listen -- I too have searched for ways to teach true listening without luck. Until now. I also benefitted from his outlining of "4 Magic Questions" which gives you direction in discovering why someone will/won't (or did/didn't) make the gift. And the book is filled with so many practical suggestions and neat example stories that is is enjoyable to read. Last, I feel it will help you be bold in your asks -- as he says, better "ready, fire aim" than "ready, aim, aim, aim...). If you are in fund-raising, YOU MUST ASK! This book will tell you how to do it right.

Most of all, it was so inspiring -- not just a "how-to" book. I will suggest EVERYONE in a position to ask for a gift in our office get a copy.
