Rating: Summary: funny books review Review: I thought it was just me! Having worked for only two corporations throughout my career, this book made me realize that corporate life is pretty much a universal experience! The sly and witty Pollack pokes fun at all the different types of coworkers to be dealt with, such as 'Ms. Whiner,''Betty Crocker', 'Big Ben,' and 'The Shadow.' Although most of Pollack's observations are funny in their own right, he turns them sideways, putting an insightfully entertaining twist on every aspect of corporate life, including corporate policy, office art, department meetings, lunch, and the company fire drill--not to mention an enlightening explaination of corporate lingo such as, "touch base," "have a good one", "it's a challenge." This book had me in tears, I was laughing so hard. The realistic tips and tricks that college seniors can learn from it will position them well for their looonnnnnnngggggggg life ahead in corporate America!
Rating: Summary: 5 Stars as Usual Review: Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been noticing things in my past few day jobs for years, but I've never been able to corraborate my observations until now. It's amazing to see that the same monkey-business happens all over the country! The author's "Survival Guide" explains the subtle inner-workings of a typical corporate office environment. He's covered personality conflicts, day-to-day confusion, and offers several innovative tips on how to manipulate an otherwise dreary existence into a successful career. Especially Chapter 4, "Bosses From Hell" -- this explains several of the fools I've dealt with over the years to a tee! If I had this information going in, sure would have saved me a heck of a lot of grief. I've passed my copy on to a neighbor who has a kid who's now a college senior. He doesn't get it yet -- thinks this is ripe for a sitcom that couldn't possibly happen in the real world. Boy is he in for a treat... Overall, the "Survival Guide" is a terrific book that's very entertaining for any corporate type - makes for several fun conversations by the water cooler!

Rating: Summary: funny books review Review: The Survival guide to corparate america is really funny. Me and my friend were cracking up like maniacs over it. Particulary the bosses from hell chapter was exceptional. When I get older I will reread it and actually use the advice. That is pretty much it for the great book.
Rating: Summary: If Only The Movie "Office Space" Had Met Fred Review: This book is "Office Space" x300! The shtick in this book is incredibly true. This book is not only valuable to graduating college seniors, but also to seasoned professionals who will, like I did, laugh their asses off!
Rating: Summary: If Only The Movie "Office Space" Had Met Fred Review: This book is a great addition to my Human Resources library. Its straight to the point and funny as hell. I had the pleasure of Meeting Mr.Pollack at a book signing in Conshohocken and he is as funny in person and sincere as in the book. Its an easy, quick read that fresh graduates will find themselves referencing many months and years after they have received their diploma. I hope there are more books to follow in the same humorous realistic format that Fred has proven to be successful at.
