Summary: Tourism isn't just fun, its subject of scientific research
Review: I have been doing reseacrh on tourism in Quintana Roo, Mexico for the last 5 years. Tourism is the main economical activity of Q. Roo, represents roughly 33% of all tourism in Mexico. To study the complex development of tourism in Q Roo, I found the book Global Tourism very useful providing both theory and empirical tools. The new edition is not merely a substitution of the new one but enhances my understanding of tourism and provides excelent framework for the study of the development of places like Quintana Roo in Mexico as well as other touristic areas in the world. I highly recommend Global Tourism not only for researchers but for anybody involved in the tourism industry. I think it will make easier the task of bridging communication among all parties interested in making tourism a real tool for sustainable development.
