Rating: Summary: Not for the serious minded potential PI Review: As a Detective Supervisor eligible for retirement, I am exploring a post investigative career as a private investigator/detective. I thought this particular book would be a natural starting point on learning the basics. Unfortunately, information on using a good stapler, shiny paper clips, and owning and using a telephone (this information actually takes several pages to cover!), proves just a bit too basic for the serious potential PI. I would recommend this reading for the higher grade school or lower high school student researching the profession for a report or study. If you are searching for actual case studies in which to emulate, or are looking for ways to develop or refine investigative techniques, you are strongly advised to look elsewhere.

Rating: Summary: This Study Guide is a must for anyone interested in PI. Review: This book is the perfect starting point for anyone interested in the field of Private Investigations. It was a easy reading book with some interesting assignments at the end of each chapter. I highly recommend it.

Rating: Summary: This book is too basic and of limited use. Review: This book provides good general information useful for starting any small business - with an emphasis on the private investigator. However it provides no real information or insight into the specific types of work private investigators do, the day to day aspects of the work itself, or tips for conducting these activities. Nor, despite its' identification as a 'self study guide,' does it provide any useful references to related subject matter which would provide this information. Simple, quick, easy and enjoyable reading but a poor value for the money.
