Summary: A lot of great ideas, but a little too psychoanalytical
Review: This book is an excellent resource for people interested in bringing out the best in people. If nothing else, you will learn how to take charge of your life in a positive and fulfilling manner. Although some parts of the book tend to be too psychoanalytical (the judge/robot metaphor) for this behavioral psychologist's taste, much of what he says about peak performance and self-talk is strongly supported by research both in performance improvement in industry as well as in sport psychology. Overall, Tosti's philosophy makes a great deal of sense and will resonate with people who prefer to approach life in a positive manner.

Now if you're interested in the SCIENCE of how to bring out the best in people, you'd be better served reading the book by that title (Bringing out the Best in People) by Aubrey Daniels or Human Competence by Tom Gilbert.

Tosti helps you plan and own your own success. He doesn't give it to you. He gives you the tools and opportunity to create your life according to your plan.
