Summary: Read this first, then decide to be a guide
Review: After having spent several years pursuing this dream of being a guide, I finally invested several hundred dollars in a home study course as step one. I came across this book sometime after purchasing the home study course, and I wished I had read this book first.

Dan has a unique way of summing everything up and putting it in terms that the average guy can relate to. Although the book made me think hard about my decision, it was worth the cost.

In the end, "When you pause on the pass, look over miles of good country, and admire the racks lashed atop your pack string. Your only regret will probably be that you waited so long to become a guide."
-- Dan Cherry

Summary: This book is about being a hunting guide
Review: I did not read this book. I am submitting this review because I found this book by searching "adventure travel" on Amazon. I was looking for a book on being an adventure travel guide, organizing trips and/or perhaps starting an adventure travel guiding business. No where in the title or brief description of this book did it indicate the "guiding" covered in the text is as a wild game hunting guide. I think this book should be classified under sports, not adventure travel.
