Rating: 2 stars
Summary: A confusing outdated disappointment in its field
Review: Goldhaber's text, while rated highly by the ABCA is a great outdated disappointment. It is also not reader friendly. Most of the endnotes are dated before 1988 and very hard to find on CD Rom. The book reads awkward and definitions are hard to understand. There is no mention of email (even though the book was written before the web revolution). Communication networks are not depicted properly. Sections on listening, communication audits, and even career development are weak, inaccurate, or outdated. Anyone using this book would be well advised to seek permission and use a communications chapter from one of the established organizational behavior texts to help the students grasp and understand the subject matter.
