Summary: Great Introduction to the US Transportation System
Review: I use this book as a text in a university course. It gives a broad-brush approach to introducing the field of transportation and the various modes (planes, trains, trucks, boats). It looks at the field from both a user's and a provider's perspective and has great "real-world" examples and problems. It needs a little updating, especially regarding the regulatory environment which has changed significantly since this edition was published. I chose this book over 3 or 4 others because it is very readable and not too technical. A good introductory text.
