Review: In this age of activity-based costing and balanced scorecards, there are lots of so-called pioneers. Lynch and Cross are true pioneers. They invented the term balanced scorecard, long before Nolan and Norton. As a process consultant, I use the principles in the book on a daily basis. The representation of the performance pyramid is very intuitive. People unfamilar with performance management concepts can very quickly grasp the interrelationships between strategic, tactical and operational measures. If your budget allows you only one book on performance management -- make this book the one.
