Econometrics: An Introduction

Summary: simple but thorough
Review: The best low-level undergrad text I've run into, it gently builds students' understanding of OLS regression by leading them slowly through key derivations and by providing many simple illustrative examples. I often recommend it to graduate students who have trouble _understanding_ the econometric formulas they memorize or derive. It starts with a solid review of probability and inferential statistics, but would be improved by more attention to descriptive statistics. Also, its treatment of time-series seems antiquated.
