Review: This book would not be out of print if more people were acquainted with it. At less than 200 pages, including index and references, this introductory text to business forecasting takes the problem of predicting the future seriously. However, the authors do not take themselves too seriously, and the math jokes actually helped my comprehension of the material. By using minimal formulae and fully explaining the calculation when explanation can't be avoided, the book made forecasting less forbidding, more understandable, and left me with an increased respect for the problems of forecasting as well as some improvement in my own ability to deal with the forecasts of anyone providing information about The Future. No, past performance does NOT indicate future outcomes for investments, and past behavior is NOT necessarily the best predictor of future behavior in people. If there's an area in your life where you need to get past these bromides, this book will help. Seek it persistently.
