Summary: Exactly what I needed!
Review: Getting back into the job market after nine years at home is exciting, but creating a resume scared me to death. I looked at several books about resume creation, but they either went into too much depth and gave no examples, or were too job-specific for me. I have never even done a resume before, and I had a lot of questions. This book gave tons of examples, showing how each differed and what it emphasized. It gave advice on how to emphasize your strengths and downplay your weaknesses. Ideas for design and fonts were plentiful and practical. I came up with a great resume, but best of all it wasn't a stressful exercise once I found this book. I highly recommend this book!

Summary: Focus on format, not content
Review: Unlike most resume books which have many samples in the same format with different information, this book has hundreds of different resumes in a wide variety of formats. It contains a small section on the content of resumes, but the primary focus of the book is on layout and design. Individual chapters are dedicated to placement of names and address information as well as to functional versus chronological resumes. All aspects of the physical appearance of resumes are covered including font and quality and color of paper. One of the most useful sections of the book addresses the issue of making resumes scannable. This book would be more useful to somebody who already has a resume and wants to update the look rather than to a person just beginning to write a resume.
