Rating: Summary: Harry Becomes A Brat. Review: To begin with, it should be made clear that the Harry Potter series is advancing beyond the children's book designation. Harry's story is now about a teenager with all the best and the worst, mainly the worst, characteristics and behaviors engendered by that stage of life. In short, Harry has become a brat, but that's OK. Most teenagers go through a brat stage at some point, and with Harry's issues, he is entitled to be a little combative. Young children, however, may not fully understand what is happening here, but teens and adults should have no trouble identifying with what Harry, his peers, and his mentors are facing.Good book, great read, if a little too long.
Rating: Summary: Still a Potter Fan Review: Although the book is rather wordy, it's an excellent book. Finally, we get some answers to the questions we've been asking for years. It's a shame one of the main characters dies. Poor Harry has enough heartache in his life. Still, I'm sure I'll treasure it for years to come.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I ever read. Review: I loved this book, at the begining it was boring and I would read only A few pages, (according to my mom the boring stuff will make the rest of the book interesting.) Once he gets to Hogwarts though this book is hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: Harry Casts Another Spell Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the massive fifth installment in the Harry Potter series. It is as captivating and thrilling as any of it predecessors. I raced through from beginning to end, from Privet Drive to Hogwarts and back to King's Cross. In this book Harry visits many places he's never gone to, such as the Ministry of Magic and St. Mungo's Hospital. He also must cope with a suprising and tragic death. You'll have to reread this line in the book many times to believe it. Harry's love life also comes into play involving (who else?) Cho Chang. Some new characters in the fifth book are a quirky girl named Luna Lovegood and the horrible Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher and Hogwarts High Inquisitor, Professor Umbridge. In the book is also the Order of the Phoenix, a group of wizards resisting Voldemort's attacks and trying to enlighten the world about the Dark Lord's return. Harry also learns some disturbing things about his father and the Ministry of Magic's refusal to help the Order of the Phoenix defeat Voldemort.
Rating: Summary: The Best In The Series... Review: I got the book the day after it came out and it was so hard to put down! This is by far the best in the series to date. The book is full of non-stop action, and takes several twists and turns... This book is a must-read!
Rating: Summary: JK Rowling does it again! Review: I just finished this massive book in record time. I love being a fast reader. I am not going to give a plot synopsis, since the editorial reviews will be doing that and I don't want to spoil it for anyone who is still reading :) My thoughts, impressions, and whatnot: *I did think this one took a little bit longer to suck me into it, and I kept thinking, "why is Harry so whiny" *New characters are a trip, especially Dolores Umbridge, who eveyone will love to hate. *We find out what The order of the Phoenix is *The ending, again, is killer!! Will leave you wanting the next installment *Harry is, indeed, growing up *As Rowling continues with the series, she is making the level of the books increase as well. This one really should be classifed as young adult. There are a couple of things in there that I felt were older material and not for 7-9 year olds. *New prefects *New mystical creatures (!) *OWLS - wizard testing abound I think that's it! But really, outstanding once the story got going! Harry's world is mystical and magical and one we all wish we could see, JK Rowling lets us do just that thru her excellent story-telling. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Whoa. Review: OK, here we go: Unlike the four previous harry potter books, the first three especially, there is a lot of action right at the start, even before hogwarts. This is by far the longest and best book, as there is a lot of action, a lot of plotting, a lot of laughs, and a lot of mystery. You might think that the book is trying to be too many things at once, but it's not. It has a perfect blend of all good aspects of a book. You'll love it!
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: This book, though it may be heavy, is a work of art. It was almost worth the wait, but, I'm sorry, few books would be worth 3 years. However, it was excellent. With everything Harry has to deal with in this volume, I'm surprised he doesn't burst. He has to deal with poisonous Professor Umbridge, girls, and of course, the rising of the Dark Lord Voldemort. Though his mood swings make it hard to discern at first, Harry really does get a lot stronger in this book. I would reccommend this book to anyone willing for an adventure.
Rating: Summary: Worthy of the series Review: I didn't find book five to be as moving as book four. Maybe it is because Harry is more conscious of being the hero this time as well as being a truly anxious pre-teen boy. The grand secret of the book that Dumbledore reveals resolves issues that as a reader I was happy to let slide, so I felt the build-up to that fell a little flat. People who like loose ends tied up will appreciate it more. The book starts slow and but when it speeds up it doesn't slow down again until the very end. The slow start is fine as wallowing in Harry's world is such a nice diversion. It is the little details that make HP's magical world so entertaining and Rowling didn't hold back much, which accounts for a lot of the additional length of the book. Overall, definitely worth the read. Rowling can feel free to keep writing them as long as she likes.
