Summary: Girl Goddess #9
Review: I read this book and liked it a lot. I won't say I loved it or that it changed my life, but if I was still in High School (I'm in college studying to be a High School English teacher) I would have gotten more out it. I am thinking of using the short story "Girl Goddess #9" in my classroom with a unit on media, and having my students create thier own zines. Overall, the book is well crafted. At times, the slang and the use of images that are "cool" get in the way. Because of this, I'm not sure that this work could "stand the test of time." But, if it's changing young girls lives now, then it is an important read.

Summary: Best Book Around
Review: this book was wonderful! im 14 and i think that the material was perfect for someone my age. her imagination is unlike anything i've ever seen before in an author and i was totally impressed. her use of adjectives was amazing. i have read a couple of her other books and this one is by far the best. i just wish their were more stories! check out "dragons in manhattan" its the best story. :)

Summary: Different and Unique
Review: This book was so full of imagination. I could read it over and over again. each story was wonderfully written. Ms. Block's writing style is the best I have ever read. she relate's to everyone's unique personality. Great book for teens and older. I can't wait to read more book's by her.

Summary: absolutely wondiferous
Review: Each of the short stories in "Girl Goddess #9" was incredible. I was completely absorbed in the imagery and language, unable to putthe book down. The stories deal with life, love, and sadness in ways most authors don't, won't, or can't. Although parts were hard to follow upon first glance, the book left me with a bit of insight and that feeling of time well spent. My only complaint is that there were only 9 stories!

Summary: fantastical
Review: Out of all of Francesca Lia Block's books, I think this is one of the best. Although I don't particularly like short stories in general, this book left me captivated. My favorite is Blue because it was so touching, and Ms.Block's writing style is so lyrical that it really brings out the sadness even more than imaginable.(it made me cry!) Anyway, the whole collection of short stories was great, and this is one book I'll be reading again and again.

Summary: Give this book to your daughters
Review: Block at her diamond vision, teenage rock star, sugar candy best. Her writing is adolescent - that is, it is contradictory, infuriating, sometimes mistaken, and splendidly beautiful. Have you forgotten the tragic glory of being a teenager? Read this book. Are you living with the tragic glory of a teenager, and from where you're standing does it look like meaningless rebellion and mess? Read this book before you give it to the brave, scared, brand-new adult in your house, and remember what it was like to be her.

Summary: Excellent reading
Review: Though some parts were a little bit sappy, over all, this book was great. I love how Block relates the stories to other things she has written, connecting them, making them exist in the same realm. Of all the short stories, I think "Girl Goddess #9" was the most inspiring. The two girls really came to life and you really get an opportunity to sympathise with their ideas and ambitions.

Summary: beautifully tragic
Review: when i first read "girl goddess #9" i had no idea what was going on. after reading through a second time, i went through and examined each story, and read them all more carefully. block's work is absolutely beautiful. each story unfolds magically and is noted by imaginary friends and the wonderful scenery of california. reading more into each story makes one wish that the dream worlds that block has written about were real. a beautiful book that every teenage girl should read.

Summary: My fav book
Review: This book is too good to be true. The nine stories absolutley transcend reality. My favorites, Dragons In Manhatten, Rave, and The Canyon, all moved me to the extreme. After reading Rave for the third or fourth time, I just felt.......moved. Moved. The effect Rave had on me is too undescribeable to say. My mom loved it too.
