Rating: Summary: One of the better books in the genre. Review: "In the Hand of the Goddess" is the stunning sequel to "Alanna: The First Adventure". This book was so incredibly breath-taking, I found myself gasping at every turn. The characterisations are superb, embedded in a well-developed plot set in a believable world.Alanna is the young, secretly female squire of the heir to the Tortallen throne. She struggles with her identity, visitations from divinities and the love of her best friends and gradually discovers herself. She faces her nemisis in the oily Duke Roger, and..... The characters in this book bear notice because they cannot be neatly classified, as the one-dimensional characters in so many modern books so neatly show us. The world is completely believable, from the gods and goddesses to the common people. Tamara Pierce ought to be commended for her excellent work in this genre, allowing it to become something more than shallow entertainment. This book is a gem; do yourself a favour and get it today!!
Rating: Summary: I loved it!! Review: I have to say that this is my favorite so far. Despite all the magic and fantastic things that happen, this is so realistic when it comes to the romance part!! I highly recommend it!!
Rating: Summary: Alanna of Trebond Strikes again! Review: This is book is excellent of how Alanna of Trebond is able to become a knight, find out that the two of her closest friends(George King of the Theives and Prince Jonathan) is detemine to be her lovers and how she over comes the evil Duke Roger of Conte. It's the absolute best!
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: I realy like how Alanna struggles to find herself in this book. I also like how she beat Roger, but didn't do it perfectly. Also i feal that her being the first woman knight plays a big part in me liking the story.
Rating: Summary: Interesting Review: Funny, romantic, interesting, suspenseful, magical, fantastic -- what more could you ask for in a book? In my opinion, though, it's not for young readers: they probably know about sex, but that doesn't mean they have to read about it. P.S. If you like Tamora Pierce, you'll like Robin McKinley. Check her out.
Rating: Summary: Best of the Lioness series Review: I thought this was an excellent book. I love strong female characters and also some romance. I'm a thirteen year old girl and I have read all of the Lioness and the Immortals books. I think these books are extremely well written and suggest them to anyone who likes adventure. I think In the Hands of the Goddess is the best, hands-down.
Rating: Summary: Alanna's second adventure is more exciting than the first... Review: Alanna is in her second year of being at the palace. She meets the goddess and gets a cat. While she is fighting Roger she is also with Prince Jonathan and George.
Rating: Summary: Women Can Do Anything they set thier mind to! Even Alanna.. Review: This Book I think was the best of the series. Alanna's secret is revealed and she goes through the Ordeal. Also in the beggining she recieves a cat. He has purple eyes just like her and serves as guide through the acomplishments and trials of her life. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes to read and loves knights, kings, queens, magic etc....
Rating: Summary: i just wish there were more....... Review: This is one of my favorite books. It combines romance, fantasy, and adventure in a well-written page-turner. I have read all the books in the series many times over, especially Hand of The Goddess. When I first finished the series, I was really sad, but then I discovered how re-readable they are. I really get attached to the characters and get wrapped up in the stories. I am so involved and know Alanna so well that I feel her panic as the spider approaches her during her Ordeal of Knighthood. I feel her embarrassment about George, and I am happy along with her when she overcomes- (you have to read the book!). does anyone know how to write to Tamora Pierce? I want to ask her to write more Tortall books, even if she's already started a new series about somewhere else....
Rating: Summary: Alanna puts the smack down! Review: Whoa! I must say that I didn't want this book to end! The first chapter grabs you and pulls you in as usual! I love how Alanna doesn't let people push her around, and I really like how she is one of the Goddess's favorites! The romance in this book makes you blush and smile. Go Alanna!
