Summary: Amazing
Review: Having heard a great deal about this series, I thought I would give it a try. Very disappointing. The writing seems geared toward early readers who are very easily entertained and not very well read. Extremely wordy, and I was surprised at the lack of quality in the writing. Anyone past the 3rd grade should be reading better written books.

Summary: The BEST In Children's Literature
Review: I'll admit it. I didn't want to read the Harry Potter series at first. I bashed it and mocked it. I ridiculed all my friends who were fans of this young wizard. I had spoken, I outright refused to read these books........

Famous last words, eh?

To prepare to see the movies, I decided to read the books. I told my friends that I didn't expect to like them. I wasn't to be easily converted. After reading the first page of 'Philosophers' Stone,' I was hooked. I put off important things to quench my insatiable thirst for these excellant books. Before long, I had read the entire series and considered myself to be a fan of the highest order. I lamented the fact that I had to be in Munich when the 5th book came out, luckily, they sold Englich copies there and I was able to read it while sitting in the Haufbrauhaus. I had the volumous 5th book read in a matter of days.
For those of you who don't like Harry Potter and haven't read them, give them a chance. Don't worry about the fact that you are being a conformist. They are really excellant books and I give them the highest praise and recommendation.

Review: I lost so much sleep, staying up in hopes of discovering Harry Potters' next adventurous obstacle, I read the first three Harry Potter books in the series and will start the fourth soon. Filled with the suspense of what comes next and interesting twists, this magical story left me dreaming into the night. Harry Potter books can be an easy read for people of all age groups. My best wishes to J.K. Rowling, I am looking forward to more reading adventures.

Summary: AWESOME!!
Review: I had watched the first two Harry Potter movies and was in the store one day and saw the third book. I thought, what the heck? And bought it. Needless to say, after that book I bought the first two as well as the fourth. I am almost done with the fourth book and I have to say that there are a lot of happenings and turn of events in it that shocked the heck out of me!!! I can not wait to get the 5th book!!

Summary: J.K. Rowling really knows her stuff!
Review: I love this box set...i own it at home! I had already read all of them once but had to read them again. The good thing about the Harry Potter series that Rowling's books are filled with so much interesting and suspensful things is that when you read it a second time its like you just picking it up for the first time. I probably finished this series in about a week plus a couple of days beucuase i couldnt put it down...GO pick this up.

Summary: I love the Weasley twins!!
Review: And you will not know who they are until you read the Harry Potter books. I bought these books because my daughter-in-law loves them and my granddaughter was starting to read them as well as various nieces and nephews and I wanted to share the books they love. I thought that by having the first four in paperback that I would finish them about the time the 5th one comes out in paperback. No such luck - I read straight through them in a couple of weeks and begged my daughter-in-law to send my her #5 - which she graciously did. I read that one in two days. These books are well-written and well-constructed. I am THRILLED that children are reading them. Hopefully these young readers will not only read fabulous stories, but develop an improved vocabulary and much more complex and critical thinking. For my fellow conservative Christians, if you are worried about the "wizardry" in the books, don't ban them but read them WITH your children and discuss them. My granddaughter and I have had fabulous and deep discussions about our beliefs which have been jumpstarted by these books. The later books are probably too dark for pre-teen readers, but if you are reading the books WITH your kids, you can make that judgment based on your individual child. As Christians, we are to be in the world, not of the world. If we cloister ourselves and our children from what is going on, we have nothing to share with the non-Christians and we are living not by faith, but by fear.

Summary: Disgusting
Review: Harry Potter is a perfect example of how the human race is degrading. Diaphonous, cliche, superficial, idiotic, meaningless, etc... this book hasn't even a single positive aspect. Rather than improve the mind of children and shaping them to become strong and creative, Harry Potter does the opposite, as it wastes valuable earth resources to permeate its pages with absurd, mind-numbing rubbish which has no value at all. Mind degrading, probably the only thing it does well is improve economy through massive sales the cause of which I cannot discern. Why are people drawn to that which is sensless drivel? Rather than being raised and challenged with philosophy and valuable classical literature, any reason is effectivelly and magnificently killed off by the sheer idiocy of this work. It's pathetic themes persuade meekness and mediocrity. In other words one might call it a literary crime. Rather than read Ulysses or Illiad/Odyssey which engorge the mind with ability to think analytically and creativley, children are directed in the harmful streamline of Rowland's Harry Potter. It is a leisurly read one might say. And another might respond, a badly chose leisurly read considering the myriad of more worthy engaging works that have been written. The characters are fools, the plot is idiotic, the theme is nonsensical, and idea of it blasphemous. I do however commend Rowling for her unexplainable success. And, a subtle presentiment tells me that I dont believe I could have accomplished such dissemination and massive recognition: No one listens to reason and good sense after all. Speaking of reason, the reason for the magnetism of this rubbish however is shamelessly perplexing and unfathomable by me. So in conclusion, please, save a dollar, save a tree, save a young mind: Don't buy or read this nauseating drivel.
