Summary: great book
Review: My dau is facinated by the moon so this is a perfect book. I like that it explains that the moon shrinks and disappears, only to reappear. She looks forward to this every month. However, I think the large hardcover book is very overpriced. Also thinka book board would have been great for small kids (like mine)!

Summary: An engaging book
Review: My daughter's Kindergarten teacher recommended this book because it seems the kids really take to it. My daughter, who is 4, said it's a really, really funny book. I personally love the large format of the hardback edition, because the foldout ladder after all has to be very big, to reach the moon.

Summary: Papa, Please Get The Moon For Me
Review: My two and a half year old son loved this book too apart from Eric Carle's The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This book speaks volumes for little ones - it is no longer wishful thinking for them to "get at" the moon. Yet another gem from Eric Carle and I am glad that his book did not disappoint. Books like this are rare because it takes a gifted writer to perceive things from a child's view and most of us have grown so up and old to ever remember what it was like and what mattered to us when we were children.

Summary: An enjoyable read
Review: My two year old boy loves trains, planes and the moon. This book has helped us to teach him about the different phases. He can identify a "cresent", "full" and "quarter" moon. He likes to look for Monica's pet cat in the pictures. The fold outs are a fun idea, but not terribly practical with a toddler, although I've been surprised how well they've held up --he hasn't bent them too much. This is a book he comes back to on his own. Pictures are great.

Summary: What a great dad!
Review: This book is the beautiful story of a dad who goes to all lengths for his daughter - he actually gets the moon for her!
In typical "Carle fashion" this book expands (as the moon appears to do), the pages ascend ever higher (as the moon ascends in the sky). As with Carle's other stories you don't just hear them and see them - you FEEL them. I love the motion in this book. The tenderness of the gift from father to daughter and the representaion of the child's joy in playing with the moon. This story has a wonderful opening, fantastic struggle and beautiful ending. I especially enjoy how the moon itself is a character in the book.

Summary: What a way to learn!
Review: This book is wonderful! My daughter received it at age 2 from my favorite Aunt who always did give the best books! This has allowed our family library to grow and become what it is. My daughter was, as so many children are, fascinated with the moon. Every night she would get so excited " boom boom " she would say and point. We were much to tall until I got down on the floor at her level did I realize what it was she pointed to. Then the comprehension that it is the same moon takes about another few months as my daughter had to call her grandfather each night with excitement to what " her Moon " was doing and he should come over and see this. Eric Carle does the most extraordinary job through all his books letting the child see through the wonderful pictures and learning these simple concepts, that children must learn. This is an excellent book for any child and one of my very favorites as that two year old has turned ten, and her younger sister and brother also have gotten a wonder message and many hours from this book! An excellent choice!
