Summary: Give peace a chance...
Review: The text, Love You Forever, takes young people through the full "circle of life." When times at home get rough, often, parent-child relationships can get strained. What can turn into an extended fight over virtually nothing could perhaps be stopped if the book was required reading for both parties. The old saying, "You won't know what you're missing until it's gone" (is that correct? something like that). When a child is actually "forced" to confront the parent/child relationship as one that will eventually end, a new perspective can be found. Similarly, a parent who is constantly finding fault in a young one can be "revitalized" by this book, knowing that there will be a day when he or she can no longer "rock his/her child back and forth, back and forth, back and forth."

Summary: A Classic!
Review: This story is heart-wrenching because it expresses the infinite and unconditional love that a mother feels for her child. But the end of the book reaffirms that love is always returned by those who have been loved by another, especially a parent.

Summary: Great Lesson
Review: This is a cute story that really illustrates the depth of a parent-child bond. All families should read this, regardless of your age.

Summary: Robert Munsch is Great
Review: I simply love his books and this one is one of my son's favourite. Unconditional love is explained to a child in such a simple way. Robert has a way of bringing the best out of a brat in so many of his books. Another one which is great is "The Ribbon Dress" and then there is "Thomas Snowsuit". Of course I could go on and on. I would recommend this to any mom who can just share what most moms go through when rocking their child.

Summary: A disturbing look at child molesting.
Review: From HAROLD and THE PURPLE CRAYON to ONE FISH TWO FISH RED FISH BLUE FISH, we've all had our share of crazy kids books read to us growing up. From the "stay out of trouble" morals of THE POKEY LITTLE PUPPY to the "shut up and eat your dinner" message of WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE, you might even learn a thing or two while you're at it. But after reading through LOVE YOU FOREVER by Robert Munsch and Sheila McGraw, I have to say that it's one of the creepiest kids books I've ever seen.

Published in 1986, it's a fairly modern kids book, but with over 50 printings in the last 15 years, there's obviously millions of homes that have this mind bending tome within.

On the surface, it's a really sweet book about a mother who really loves her baby boy as he grows to manhood, no matter how goofy or annoying he may be in the process. Periodically she visits him and sings the song:

"I'll love you forever,
I'll like you for always,
As long as I'm living
my baby you'll be."

If it were just that, it'd be an all time classic. But it takes the simple concept to disturbing extremes that have to be seen to be believed.

Anyone who's had a baby in their family knows there's nothing cuter than looking at them while they're sleeping. The mother in the book knows this and sneaks into his room at night to peek at her angel, and sing her little song to him. Nothing wrong with that, right?

Only it doesn't stop there. When the boy is a teenager she CRAWLS into his room on all fours and, "If he was really asleep she picked up that great big boy and rocked him back and forth, back and forth, back and forth" while she sang her song. I don't know about you but if I was 15 and woke up in my bed with my Mom holding me like that, I'd probably scream. Who knows what kind of weird dreams this poor boy was having?

Well at least when this poor lad moves out of the house, he won't have to deal with his mother's obsessive habits anymore...or does he? Yep, once he's full grown, according to the book, "...sometimes on dark nights his mother got into her car and drove across town." YIKES! Not only is that scarier than hell that she's driving with a ladder strapped to her car in the middle of the night, but she makes a regular habit of it.

Yep, ol' Mommy climbs up his house, crawls through his window and does the same thing. Man this guy sleeps better than anyone I've ever known! Well, you can see by looking at this small single bed that he never got married. And he had such a healthy upbringing, too. It's a shame!

Though the book takes a poignant dramatic turn when he hears his mother isn't doing well and he goes to visit her. As he holds his dying mother in his lap, he turns the tables and sings the song to her. But wait a minute! I thought he was asleep during all those other times. Looks like he was playing along with this little sick little game a little too eagerly.

At this point, you feel bad for making fun of the book at all 'cause his mother has passed away. The son returns home, though, and picks up his baby girl and sings the song to her.

But from everything we've seen in the book, the guy lives alone. The only woman he ever sees at night is his Mom. Leaving the only possible mother of his child to be...OH MY GOD!!!

Let's all cross our fingers and pray we don't see the sequel to this book.

If you still think this book is sweet and that I'm missing the true spirit of LOVE YOU FOREVER, just switch the genders of the characters in this story and tell me that wouldn't be extra creepy.

Summary: It had potential....but then turned really creepy
Review: The book had potential in the begining. It was sweet. But as you get into it you can't help but get a creepy kind of feeling. I guess it didn't help that my mother in law gave this book to my HUSBAND when our son was born. It made it all the more creepier. And made my husband feel really akward. I just pictured her driving over to our home and sneeking in to hold him at night. EEEEWWWWWW

Sorry but the point to the story is sweet and nice, but I would choose a different book to express that to my children. Needless to say this book became a favorite for my kids to tear up and not get yelled at for it.

There are just so many more books out there that have to same message that don't give you goose bumps half way through the book. One of our favorites are Guess how much I love you?

Not a book that I would recommend. It does seem more geared toward adults with the "meaning" of the book and all. But I just picture mothers who can't let go of their "baby" loving this book, very unhealthy.

Summary: I'll Love You For Ever
Review: I was very emotionally moved by the outcome of this story. This is a great book for anyone who has a mother or mother figure(obviously almost everyone). The tremendous emotion that this book causes is evident in the many listeners (and readers) who cry over and over agiain when they listen to this story. I most definitely recommend this title because it causes the audience to touch their inner emotions relating to their maternal figure. This book is similar to the a book titled "The Kissing Hand" because it also deals with the love of a parent.

Summary: Life Lessons
Review: I would recommend this book because it touches upon real life lessons; that is, it is important to never give up on others, especially family. Sometimes it may take years and years until the realization of the importance of unconditional love and its true meaning emerges. Readers may find that they can relate to this story, and quite possibly, it may help them reflect upon themselves. This book is appropriate for all ages because I believe that the story enables readers to access their own feelings and emotions, regardless of age. A book that I would suggest is Good Night Moon.

Summary: unconditional love
Review: Love You Forever by Robert Munsch is a story about a mother's unconditional love for her son. I would recommend this book to parents and teachers because I think that it sends a good message. It delivers the message that you can love someone despite their flaws. It also shows that this love will come back to you and will be passed on to others.
Other books that you might like would be:

Summary: Love You Forever by Robert Munsch
Review: I would recommend this book to parents and children that need some reminders of how important they are to each other. Some people don't realize how much they love someone or how important they are in their lives until they are gone. I think that this book can be appropriate for all ages young and old because everyone could get a different meaning from reading this book. This book reminds me of Yay, You!: Moving Out, Moving Up, Moving On by Sandra Boynton. It reminds me of this book because of the message of moving on with your life and taking each experience one step at a time. It also reminds people to celebrate success and remember to support others.
