Rating: Summary: My Style Review: Holes is a story, within a story, within a story, within a story.Sachar's style makes you think of many ideas and wonders. He wrote all different stories which had holes for you to fill and find out for yourself. His style made me stay focused in the book because you are dealing with all these thoughts and ideas that you would never know what would happen next. But in the book there are good points and there are bad points. The good points are when the book gets really exciting and your just have to know what happens next. The bad points are like at the end when he keeps you hanging and you want to know what happend to everybody else which kind of surprised me.He just wants you to fill in holes yourself.Overall, Sachar's style is my style because it's not those kind of books that stick to the same boring subject, it is the kind of wonders that all come together in the end when you finished filling your hole.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Holes is a terrific book about an innocent boy who shouldn't have anything to do with Camp Green Lake. This book even has inserts with stories from the past that help you figure out the book!
Rating: Summary: Nigel's super-duper Holes review Review: Holes is a thrilling novel with everything you look for in a book. It is a story with adventure and wit that anyone would enjoy. Holes shows the quality of friendship and the importance of being fair are helpful in everything you do. Holes is a 4th grade level book but is loved by all ages. I think that Holes is an engrossing book because of the change in Stanley and the situations.
Rating: Summary: Holes: A childrens book that every age will enjoy Review: Holes is a timeless classic that everyone from your daughter to your grandmother will enjoy. The book is about a young boy named Stanley Yelnats who just cannot seem to fit in. He constantly seems to find himself at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was this unfortunate plight which got him sent to Camp Green Lake. Camp Green Lake is a camp designed for troubled young men. At first Stanley finds it hard to fit in with the boys who were actually sent to camp for commiting a crime, unlike Stanley. His only knowledge about Camp Green Lake was that: His rich grandfather was robbed by Kate Barlow and stranded there, and that it used to be a town and lake. Camp Green Lake belives that " if you take a bad boy and make him dig all day in the hot sun it turns him into a good boy" so that is just what the boys did. One of Stanleys first days digging he came upon a lipstick tube with the initials KB on it. He later realized that the lipstick tube infact belonged to the infamous Kate Barlow who had robbed his rich grandfather. The story also gets thrown for a twist when you find out that all of Stanley's misfortunes were infact due to a curse because of his great great pig stealing grandfather. The only way Stanley can lift this curse is by carrying up his new friend from camp Zero up atop a mountain and letting him drink from the stream. Upon doing this he feels a certain sense of relief and decides to investigate where he found the lipstick tube. Him and Zero dig where the lipstick tube was found and uncovered Stanleys grandfathers missing fortune. The camp was also running using child labor and was later shut down. Although I failed to mention all the funny suprises and hidden themes this book as you can see is a must read. And if the millions of copies its' sold doesn't convince you then maybe the fact it was made into a major motion picture will. Holes is a timeless classic that every person needs to experience.
Rating: Summary: holes a very interesting book Review: Holes is a ver y inter esting book
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Holes is a very adventurous novel. This novel deals with several juvenile delinquents. The main idea of this novel is that a boy named Stanley is accused of stealing a pair of shoes that belonged to Clyde Livingston, a very famous baseball player. Stanley was sent to Camp Green Lake to dig holes as a punishment. This would, supposedly, teach him a lesson. After a few months he was proven innocent just like he said. In this period of time, Stanley lost a lot of weight. He also made a friend named Hector (Zero). Zero was being teased so much that he ran away. Will Stanley go after him? To find out the rest read "Holes" by Louis Sachar.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Holes is a very creative book, full of action and humor. It is about Stanley Yelnats and his survival story at a terible camp.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Holes is a very exciting book about a boy named Stanley Yelnats. He has to go to a Camp Green Lake which is a juvenile correction center. It turns out that this is no lake at Camp Green Lake; it is in the middle of the desert. Stanley didn't commit the crime he was accused of. He meets another kid at Camp Green Lake named Hector Zeroni. Everyone calls him zero because he doesn't know how to read or write. They have to dig a hole every day that is five feet deep and five feet wide. The warden says it is to build character, but she is really looking for buried treasure. A long time ago Camp Green Lake was really a lake and that is why she is looking for buried treasure. Can Stanley and Zero escape from Camp Green Lake? I really like this book because it was adventurous and I recommend it to anyone that likes adventure.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Holes is a very exciting book. It's in modern time and also travels back 100's of years ago. It's about a kid named Stanley who is convicted of something he didn't do. He is sentenced to go Camp Green Lake. There he is supposedly digging to "build character." He soon learns that he is digging to find something for the Warden. This book is about his adventures at Camp Green Lake.
Rating: Summary: Holes Review: Holes is a very exciting book. Some chapters change the subject and it gets confusing, but in the end it starts to make sense why the author did that. If you like adventure then you would love this book. The characters all have their own unigue and strange personalitys, that will make your reading endless. I recommend this book to anyone, because it is very descriptive, and easy to read and understand. It would be a great book for anyone of any age to add to their bookshelf.
