Rating: Summary: Ok...I guess Review: The reason i rated them a 3 is because it lacked the certain charisma found in the main books. Also the fore word by Albus Dumbledore just put me off a little more. last time i checked i'm a muggle and not supposed to know about magic. But otherwise it is worth buying if not for the book, for the charity. And it's a good filler of time between finish the Goblet of Fire and starting the Sorceror's Stone again.
Rating: Summary: Great books! Review: I'm glad they published these little books. They're really cheap, so you can buy them with no problem. There are a lot of Harry Potter fans out there. These books will keep most of them happy during the wait for Book 5. The doodles by Harry and his friends in "Fantastic Beasts..." are funny. You should certainly add this to your collection!
Rating: Summary: great books Review: great reads, they are right up on my book shelf with my four harry potter books and i am anxious to add the fifth book! quidditch explains everything that pottermaniacs want to know about harry's sport and fantastic beasts is a great read for those of us who are still looking for platform 9 3/4! highly recomended
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.. in this book! Review: Well, I have to admit, I only read "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", so that's the only book I'll review.. I'm sure there's reviews of Quidditch Through the Ages down thre. ^^; Anyway, the book gives a description of all sorts of mythical creatures, such as dragons, unicorns, merpeople, centaurs.. it lists how dangerous they are, and what regions they live in. it also has interesting little notes from Harry and his friends scattered throughout the book. I'd read the other Harry Potter books first, so you can understand exactly what those notes mean.. Anyway, this book is a good book for Potter and non-Potter fans alike. It's got all sorts of interesting theories on some monsters (the Loch Ness Monster, for instance), and it takes a humorous look at mythology. It's much less dry than some other books I've read detailing dragons and such.. and it's more suited for younger readers than those, too. Anyway, it's a great book, so chck it out!
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly entertaining Review: Harry Potter describes his schoolbooks are certainly not very interesting. However, I find that these books are highly informative and very funny to boot. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them informed me both of the monsters mentioned in the HP books as well as quite a few that were never spoken of. I primarily enjoyed the large section on chief species of Dragon. The Ministry of Magic classification system (M.O.M.) is also quite helpful. As for Quidditch Through the Ages, what I found most engaging was the history of Quidditch development and the concise section on worldwide Quidditch teams. I would recommend both books for any avid HP fan, as the books are quite reasonably priced and the proceeds go to charitable causes.
Rating: Summary: Very Cute and for a good cause! Review: Qudditch Through the Ages by "Kennilworthy Whisp" and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them by "Newt Scamander" were really good books to take up your time while waiting for Harry Pottor #5. It would also be a good thing to buy them because they are for a good cause. J.K. Rowling did another splendid job writing these two books and just for fun both books have an intro. by Albus Dumbledore. Quidditch Through the Ages is set up like a library book and on some pages Harry and Ron have scribbled things on to make the book funnier. After reading this book you will get a much better understanding of the past, present, and future of Qudditch and also the teams of Qudditch around the world. "Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them" is set up like a textbook that you and I would have. Again Harry and Ron have scribbled on entertaining little notes! In here you will find every imaginable thing including the animals in Hagrids classes! You will learn of animals in the Harry Potter books such as those huge spiders that appeared in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Plus you will learn about all the types of dragons, faires, merpeople, centuers, and other interesting magical animals and the category they fall under. Both of these books were fun and charming. After reading these books I got a lot more info. on the wizard world and a better understanding of the first four Harry Potters. What wonderful books and they are for a great cause! Thanks J.K.!
Rating: Summary: Interesting, but... Review: These books are really great. However, there are occasional slip-ups in where it's really obvious that J.K. tried too hard. It should have been written in a clean, smooth manner. But I must say, the cause these two books support is quite noble, and so I rate it four stars.
Rating: Summary: Simply amazing!! 5 Stars!! * * * * * Review: These are really cool books. Since we are stranded for a while with only 4 Harry books, these are really cool in the aspect of we actually get to learn what Harry does.
Rating: Summary: Amazing!! Review: These two books are amazing. Although they are apart from the series, you can't miss the chance of reading it.
Rating: Summary: Cute for a good cause Review: Feeling the pangs of Harry separation? Wondering more about Harry Potter's world and the inhabitants you don't get to see in each book? Wondering when the heck J.K. Rowling will give you something new? Well, look no further! Rowling gives us these two books about the beasts and games of the Wizard world with these textbook type references. These are very cute and will be fun for Harry fans to skim through while they wait (and wait) for the fifth installment of the regular novels. A bonus is the the proceeds go to charities, so your kids (or you) can enjoy their dose of Harry while helping others in need.
