Rating: Summary: An awesome book that gets better each time I read it Review: This book was GREAT! It's one of the few that I've read several times over....and still enjoy. Maniac does some awesome stuff like hit a home run with a frog ball, sleep with the reindeer in the zoo, and take a bite of one of Mars Bar's candy bars. He also hangs out with the family of bullys and actually gets them to clean up and go to school. Despite these feats, he doesn't seem aware of the effect that he has on the people around him; he just kind of expects them to accept the things that he does, and they live up to that. In the end, he brings out the best in the people around him.
Rating: Summary: A Powerful, sharp, but uninspiring Book Review: This book is powerful, but it has a lot of prejudice and racism. Mr. Spinelli writes very well, but in everyday talk, not necessarily correct grammar, and sometimes it is difficult to make out. "Maniac Magee" has an interesting and overpoweringly exciting story. This book has many coined words, exaggerations and theoretically impossible situations, even though it's realistic fiction. Author Jerry Spinelli is a phenomenal writer for this story. I reccomend this book to ABSOLUTELY ANYONE. I started reading this book in
first grade, but I put the book down. Now I am reading this novel in school, and now I LOVE IT!!! Of course, this book has a happy ending. I think you should definetly BUY THIS BOOK AND READ IT!!!
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: This book is one of my absolute favorites and I just about died when it ended. Jerry Spinelli is one of the BEST authors I know and admire. READ THIS BOOK NOW
Rating: Summary: A great lesson on Racism and Prejudice Review: Maniac Magee is a great learning tool in the middle grades. The novel keeps a lighter side within it, while at the same time teaching students the pressures of racism.
Rating: Summary: my review Review: My name is Carmen and i'm the reviewer for the book,Maniac Magee.I think this book deserves one star, because it doesn't make sence. This book is talking about a boy who is running for no reason.I don't see why he didn't stay at home because he has to find places to sleep and it's cold at night.I cant compare this book to a movie because no one has ever made a movie like this or maybe iv'e
Rating: Summary: Uh...no... Review: Right...well, I suppose you could say I didn't fully understand the point of this book. A little boy's parents die, he has to live with his feuding Aunt and Uncle and then he runs away one day. When he finds a place to live he runs away. The book is about a boy running for no reason....right...as I said I didn't fully understand the point.
Rating: Summary: Running Maniac Review: This book is yet another example of the fanatical rantings of close minded neo-enviro-libertaria-cons. Maniac Mcgee represents the United States constant 'struggle' to overcome 'facism' in the 'UN'.
Please
None of the useless rantings of this book deserve any real attention.
