Summary: We must remember the past to be successful in the future
Review: As the editor of "Lest We Forget," what I wanted the book to do is help all of us heal from slavery's ugly scar. As we are about to enter the millenium, it's time we wipe the mud off our shoes before we track it into the new house.

Summary: A requirement for the African American Family
Review: Excellent. This book should be a requirement for all African American children.

Summary: THANK YOU...
Review: For bringing into reality my ancestors experience in which I can touch, hold and know.

Thank for putting together such a wholesome and needed tool in which I can share the history of my people with my children.

Thank you for having the wisdom, the insight and the strength for producing such a prolific heart wrenching book.

Thank you for giving me something of which I can look at and know that no struggle I ever have or ever will endure can't even measure a a drop in the bucket of what my ancestors encountered.

That we, as a people, should stand proud of where we came from and remember the sacrafices made to get us here.

Thank you for remembering and bringing the truth of who they were and how they lived back into the world.

Peace,

Margaret Johnson-Hodge

Summary: This book is excellent!!!
Review: I bought this book last week and by the time I finished it every black person that I came into contact with heard about it.It's a fabulous book that illustrates and really makes you thinkabout what our people went through. I think it's a book that should be given to every child and grown up, because I believe some of us have forgotten.

Summary: Absolutely breathtaking, awesome,spirit-filled.....
Review: I HAVE READ THE BOOK AND CAN'T IMAGINE HOW MY ANCESTORS SURVIVED SUCH TREACHEROUS AND INHUMANE CONDITIONS. THIS BOOK HELPS ME TO UNDERSTAND WHY I MUST BE STRONG!!! IT WILL HELP ME CONTINUE MY STRUGGLE AS AN EDUCATOR TO HELP ALL BOYS AND GIRLS LEARN ABOUT THE PAST SO THAT THIS TYPE OF HOLOCAUST WILL NEVER BE REPEATED. ALL OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS WILL RECEIVE A COPY OF THIS "HISTORICAL MASTERPIECE."

Summary: As an educator...
Review: I must say that this book is a must for every classroom (or a nice addition to any personal collection). Readers can touch, tie, and read authentically folded replicas of various documents. One of my Seventh Graders brought in her mom's copy. Now there's one in my school's library and one in my classroom! This represents a new direction regarding books on history.

Summary: A must read for people of color!
Review: I was really impressed with this book. The photographs anddocuments were absolutely shocking - yet hopeful. We've come so far fromthe horrors of the slave holocaust. Lest we forget - we are indeed a mighty race!!!

Summary: The next best thing to being there
Review: Ms. Thomas should be commended for bringing to life the days of the lives of people who were condenmed for being Black. I was also amazed about the research she acquired -- especially the 3D mementos. So many people have heard about these articles, but without attending a museum, have never seen them. Many other people have also heard about them, but don't take them serious, especially if it did not alter their lives in any way. For those of us who do take that time in history seriously, thank you, Ms. Thomas, for showing us and bringing us closer to what our ancestors endured.

Review: My daughter enjoys reading and interacting with the book. It is a must have for all races and ethnic groups. It's EVERYONE'S history, not just African-American history. I have shared the book with many people of all races and they have enjoyed and bought the book.
