Summary: A Very Meaningful Story
Review: "The Cat Who Went To Heaven" is one of my favorite book. This is more to the story of painter and his good fortune. The story is about little cat that helps a poor artist to achieve greatness. I like this book very much because there sre beautiful and sweet poems in every chapter. The poems tell the reader the character's feelings, emotions, and details about the evens in the story. The book is only 70 pages and there are nice illastrations. I would like to recommend everyone read this story. This book not only give you joy but there are meaningful messages in this story that everyone should know.

Summary: A book to warm your heart.
Review: ...This simple story of compassion is one that I have adored for years. Though it's geared towards the younger set, the language isn't trite or dumbed down, and the characters are engaging and alive with personality. A tale with a soul.

Summary: For all cat lovers
Review: A story for an older child - and a Newbury to boot. One of the most touching and unselfish books I have ever had the pleasure to read. It is a tear-jerker, though - in a totally non-manipulative way. A true classic that all children should read - not to mention all adults who love great literature. This book is a miracle of love.

Summary: This simple book has stays with you for years.
Review: I first read this book as a young teenager and had thought about it periodically for over a decade until I finally searched it out and purchased it. The simple story and illustrations sneak up on you. It wasn't until I finished the book that it touched a real emotional cord. I highly recommend it to everyone, regardless of their age.

Summary: my favourite chidhood book
Review: I loved this book as a child, and even now cry every time I read it(20 odd years later). I have a 1949 edition, which refers to the story as being set in China. Have the later editions been changed to being set in Japan? Whichever, it is still a richly soulful story which has affected everyone I know who has read it.

Summary: I'm old and I still remembered this story
Review: I must have read this book when I was less than 10 and I remembered it immediatly as I browsed the children's cat books.
My heart leapt with joy. This book was great. I remember I was so happy at the end. The message is, "Don't trust your preconcieved notions", which is a concept children can't start to understand early enough. The story is sweet and the cat is good and brave. Get this book. I guaruntee satisfaction.

Summary: A gentle, sweet story of how animals can change our lives
Review: I read this book as a child and am ever so glad that my own children can enjoy it. As a cat lover I greatly appreciate the beatiful and award-winning illustrations. However, the story itself is incredibly moving. I believe the lesson I learned as a child is that animals are very important to our lives and our stewardship of them is a grave responsibility. The artist's relationship with Good Fortune changed his heart and, consequently, his life. The intolerant priest learned to forgive.

Summary: Wonderful - I Couldn't Stop Crying
Review: I remember this as one of my favorite childhood stories. The day I read it, I cried wailed so loud that my mother came running to see what was the matter. I tried to sob out an answer, but she couldn't understand me. I was "blubbering" over with emotion.

Now, I am going to introduce this story to my son. How amazing that the story is as moving today as it was when I was a child. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Summary: A cool book for a 9 year old 4th grader to read.
Review: I thought this book was really good because it had such good stories about animals and how they sacrifice and help people. I liked the relationship between the artist and Good Fortune. Good Fortune was a great name for the cat because she brought lots of good luck to the artist and his housekeeper. It was very touching that the artist was willing to sacrifice the painting for Good Fortune. In the end, the miracle was that Buddha excepted the cat, Good Fortune went to heaven, and the artist became famous and rich.
