Summary: This find made my day!
Review: Hello:

I just bought 5 copies of this book and I have been looking everywhere and forever for a copy. Some neighbors of ours gave me this book when I was 5 years old and someone in my family ran off with it. Now I have copies for my sister and my nephews and niece too. I'm so excited that it is still in print! Finding this book has just made my day! There is no finer collection of fairy tales anywhere on this planet. There are tales here that I haven't heard of anywhere else. As many of the reviewers wrote the pictures are beautiful and they are. This is an outstanding book with an heirloom feel. I'm an old lady now, which says something since I still remember these fairy tales from when I was a child. I'm so glad I found it! You too will enjoy it for years to come.

Summary: Gail :bought this book back in 1964
Review: I am so excited to see this book back in print. I bought this book for myself when I was 10 yrs old. My best friend "Ellen" had the book and when I spent the night at her house her mother would read us stories from the Golden Book Of Fairy Tales. Some of my favorite stories are Donkeyskin,Greensnake, and Bluecrest. The pictures are incredible. These are not your average well known fairy tales. I still have my copy and have read it to both my daughters over the years. They are now 17 and 23. My oldest daughter told me about 1 month ago that she saw this book was back in print. I was so happy. I have purchased 5 copies since, and am thrilled. I have taken a copy to work to show my friends and almost everyone has ordered one as it is truely a beautiful and unique book. I have one copy now for each of my daughters,in fact my 17 yr old asked me to read to her again out of it. I hope they will share it with their children and enjoy the stories as much as I did when I was a little girl. Buy this book, I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Summary: I can't believe I found it!
Review: I have looked for a copy of this book for years. It was my favorite book when I was young. It has fairytales that you never hear about. I always took it babysitting and the kids loved it. My book is so worn that the inside has come out and I lost it. All I had was the cover and I thought I would type the title into the computer just for fun to see what I would find and I am so happy it is in reprint I can't believe it! These are the best fairytales and the pictures are great. I just hope it is the same as the one I had.

Summary: so HAPPY I found this!
Review: I just found this on Amazon and didn't know about the reprinting. I still have my worn, tired old book my mom found for me at a garage sale back in the mid 60s. I absolutely ADORE this book! I still look at my old tattered, torn copy and can't wait to get one without the crayon marks! I bought a second one for my 6 year old niece who is going to adore this. I can't wait to see her read and enjoy this book as much as I did.

Summary: Great collection of fairy tales
Review: I love this book. The stories are witten in a language of shimmering rainbows which paints elaborate mental masterpieces within the fertile finds of young readers. (I grew up reading this book; my mother still has a copy of the 1952 edition at home, so my opinion is colored by nostalgia.) This is one of the better retelling of the classic fairy stories that I have seen, and I highly recommend it for children of all ages. The illustrations alone are enough to justify the purchase--intricately detailed, haunting depictions.

Summary: Beautiful Artwork, Negative Moral Lessons
Review: I remember having this book as a child, and loving the beautiful pictures and some of the stories. However, I purchased this book again to read to my daughter and was surprised that most of the stories have the main character triumphing through trickery and deceit. I hadn't remembered that! I probably won't read many of these stories to my daughter. In my humble opinion, Louisa May Alcott's Flower Fables is a better choice for children's impressionable and developing minds.

Summary: Baby Boomers' Fairy Tale Book
Review: I was so shocked to find that this wonderful book of fairy tales had been reprinted. It was my favorite book growing up in the late 1950-1960's and I used to read it with my sisters every night. Our book is tattered and falling apart, few survived in decent shape due to the size of the book causing stress on the binding AND the constant use they received! My youngest sister ended up with our book and no amount of money would pry it loose from her. I finally found a rebound copy for myself but wanted copies for my children so they could share it with their family some day and was thrilled to be able to order one for each of them. This book is timeless with classic stories from around the world and fantastic illustrations - the best fairy tale book ever produced. It would make a perfect baby shower gift so I think I will be stocking up on more of them soon!

Summary: Lost and found!
Review: Like many other reviewers here, I also had this book as a child and it was, without a doubt, my favorite book. It broke my heart when the book was lost somewhere along the way during interstate moves. As I couldn't remember the exact title of the book, I had no luck trying to replace it. All I could remember were the unusual, mystical stories and the fabulous illustrations, the likes of which I have never seen in a children's book. Imagine my delight in finding it on this website! I have just ordered 2 copies, one for a six year old friend of mine, and one for my birthday this month when I will be turning 51. You are never too old for this book!

Summary: The Golden book of fairy tales
Review: My mother began reading this book to us when we were small, and it was read so much that it literally fell apart. My siblings and I have fought over the pieces for years, so much so, that a few years ago we all received xerox copies for Christmas. Because of the reprinting we all received a new copy for Christmas this year! It contains some of the loveliest illustrations I have ever seen and the stories are so unique! As an Elementary school librarian I have yet to see it's equal in fairy tale books. It is an absolute favorite at our house!
