Summary: an entertaining story with a lot of laughs
Review: Gordon Korman's story about a Mafia prince's attempts to lead a normal life and sustain a lasting relationship with a girl who's father happens to be the FBI agent bugging his house is both highly entertaining and gripping with it's fast-paced storytelling. Vince Luca swears that he wants nothing to do with his fater's 'vending machine business', because it has repeatedly caused him social disaster. However, when he does get involved in 'The Life' for what he feels is a legitimate reason, he gets tangled in a string of events that eventually overwhelms him.
The characters in Son Of The Mob are very believeable, such as Vince's New Media class teacher (complete with his 'Your Problem' catchphrase), and Vince's slightly annoying friend Alex, who wants nothing more than to use Vince's Mob connections to set himself up with girls. The author's dry sense of humor kept me turning the pages of this book; the satirical remarks the characters make were, in several cases, laugh-out-loud funny. And although the ending was a little predictable, the plot still had a fair amount of twists and surprises.
Son Of The Mob was a very enjoyable story with a great sense of humor and style. Korman keeps the jokes coming and the story flows consistently with suspense the whole time. Although I think the ending could have been a little better, I would definatley reccomend this book to anyone looking for a funny story with an entertaining, unsual plot.

Summary: mards review
Review: I recommend this book Son of the Mob to any one 10 years of age and up. This book is funny and at the same time can draw you in with its seriousness. When he is playing football no one wants to tackle him because they are scared of what his father might do. "I can't explain it right now coach but you have to bench me" says Vince. Yet the book can also be serious, like when Vince and his father are arguing about the problem with Jimmy and Ed "You know who's ripping off Jimmy and Ed so they never got the money to pay you, you are." You can read this book at any time it is a book that you read for fun and to enjoy.

Summary: A cops-and-robbers Romeo and Juliet? NAH!
Review: Meet 17 year old Vince Luca. Son of one of New York City's top mob bosses, Anthony "Honest Abe" Luca. Although Vince wants nothing to do with his father's buisness, it still mixes into his life some way or another. Like when on one particular date a body was found in his trunk. Like when he finds out the Porshe he got for a birthday present turns out to be stolen. Or when in football he doesn't get tackled because word gets around his father is Anthony Luca. But through all of this Vince deals. That is until he meets Kendra Bightly, whose father happens to be the FBI agent who has been trying to put Vince's dad away for the past 5 years. Isn't that just peachy?

Oh My God! This book was hilarious! A definite must read!

Summary: A Whole lot of Trouble
Review: Poor Vince, if life isn't hard enough with his father being the most feared man in Long Island its about to get a whole lot harder when he starts to date an FBI agent's daughter. THE FBI agent trying to land his mobster father in jail.

It shows the (many) down sides of belonging to a family beyond the law. From stolen cars, bodies locked in trunks, loan sharks and the odd "hit" by Uncle Pampers. Vince is determined to stay out of The Life and get on with his own but is struggling when his house is bugged and certain people keep coming to him for help. Kendra is a high point in his life but with their fathers being who they are, how long can it really last?

This modern Romeo and Juliet is laugh out loud funny as well as being fun, fast and highly enjoyable! It's speedy pace keeps you hooked until the end.

The only reason it got four stars was that it could be a little predictable at times, however the few surprising twists forgive this.

I would seriously recommend the novel to anyone!

Summary: Two Eyebrows Raised
Review: Son of the Mob by Gordon Korman is a very catching and interesting novel. Who would think just because your dad was in the mob you would be treated differently than another kid? Well, Vince Luca has this problem. His dad is a leader of a mob and one his dad's former workers works in the FBI. Vince finally finds a girl who will date him because other girls are scared of his dad. Vince later finds out that the girl he is dating is the daughter of the former member of his dad's mob. When you put all these problems together, you have one excellent novel you need to read.

Summary: Son Of The Mob!
Review: This book is about a boy named Vince Luca, and how he wants to stay out of his dads business, but ends up on a roller coaster ride that could change his love and his life.
Vince joins a football team so ha can live somewhat of a normal life. Vince thinks its' pretty weird that nobody ever tackles him, and then it dawns on him. Everyone is afraid to tackle him because he's' a Luca.
Vince wants his father to be like all the other dad, but can't except the fact that his father is in the "vending machine business."
The Luca family has a bad reputation; you see his father (a.k.a. Honest Abe Luca) is in the "Vending Machine Business," so really you never know if your birthday present was stolen, or if one of your' so called "uncles," have killed someone. If you guessed mob, you're correct. Mr.Luca is in a mob, well actually he owns one.
Everything is going down hill for Vince, until he meets Kendra. Vince finds out that Kendra's' Father (a.k.a. Agent Bite Me) is an F.B.I. agent that records everthything going on at the Luca house! Will they keep their love life a secret?
This book, in my opinion is full of action, romance, and a little bit of suspense. This book is a kind of book you're never going to be able to put down. You can't predict anything in this book its' kind of like a Spielberg movie. Vince will keep you asking for more. THE QUESTION IS WILL THERE BE A SEQUAL? Go to your local library and ask for "Son Of The Mob!
