Summary: An Immediate Favorite
Review: I checked this book out of the library for my 2 1/2yr old daughter. Although she enjoys most books we check out, I've never seen her react so favorably to a book and because there are so many things going on, I never tire of reading it with her! We've discovered something new every single time we've read it. We enjoy finding the 10 numbered hamsters of the family and always know #9 is going to be up high, etc! Not to mention how she helps me "read" it, shouting out BEDTIME and counting down w/me! It reminds me of a Richard Scarry book my brother had growing up that he would never put down and I knew I had to make this a permanent addition to our family!

Summary: Ten Minutes Till Bedtime
Review: I really enjoyed the book "Ten Minutes Till Bedtime". It's funny how the simple things can have such profound imfluence on the way we view our lives. When I read this book it made me laugh inside, because bedtime sometimes can be a big ordeal. I am in my early twenties so I don't have a bedtime, but this book brought back memories of when I was young. Peggy Rathman is a wonderful writer. This book not only takes the reader on an adventure, but turns bedtime into a not-so-serious event. The bright illustrations add to the tale of a boy and his hamster. I would recommend this to all those kids out there that dread bedtime. This book will make them laugh and possibly think twice about throwing tantrums at bedtime!

Summary: Just as much fun for mom and dad!
Review: If you want a lot of book for your money, this is the one for you. Because there's no written story and so much going on in each of the pictures, each time you open the book you find something new to talk about. This is a huge bonus if, like me, you're trying to read a book a day to a very young child - it's one of the few books you can open again and again without it becoming boring. I have to say, it's really funny, too!

Summary: 19 month old loves 10 Minutes... Has to have it!
Review: My 19th month old son loves this book; he'll drag it out for us to read to him at least once a day. And at bedtime you can forget about any other books if he spies this one. It has very little text so you can change the story and comments each time which if oyu've ever read a booka hundred times is a nice option. The illustrations are detailed so you can find something new eachtime but not so cluttered that it's confusing. And if you are familiar with Goodnight Gorilla, also by Rathman, there is a scene from that book in the background of one in 10 Minutes... Bottom line, buy ths book if you have a small child. They'll love it!

Summary: *Great* book, but get the hardcover vs. the board book
Review: My children adore this book, so we've read it many, many times. They still squeal with delight and laughter. There is so much detail, that you can't help but discover something new with each reading (keeping it entertaining for mom and dad as well as Junior). My one recommendation is that you buy the hardcover version versus the board book. We have both. The board book lacks some of the detail of the original.

Summary: They'll read it over and over!
Review: My daughers, ages 7 and 10, have loved this book since they got it about 6 years ago. The pictures are great, especially the funny little details that become more apparent the more you read this book. It is one book that adults and children alike will enjoy time and time again.

Summary: The fun is in the details
Review: The sheer amount of details in the illustrations of this book will keep it fresh for a long time. From trying to find all 10 hamsters on every page, to the shadowy scene from Rathmann's "Goodnight Gorilla" hidden in the background - this book will keep your child entertained for multiple readings.

Summary: Delightful
Review: This book is packed with detail making it fun to "read" everytime. The illustrations are charming and you fall in love with the hamster family that starts on the tour. After reading it many times you actually start to understand the personalities of each family member.

Peggy Rathmann is talented in using few words and fun pictures to tell a story for the youngest child (18+ months) to someone a few years older who appreciates all the detail and can tell their own story by looking at the pictures.

If you are a fan of Rathmann's other books ("Good Night Gorilla" and "Officer Buckle & Gloria") you'll delight in seeing details of those stories in this book.

Summary: Original and Different. Great book. Enjoyable to all ages.
Review: This book is so different from all the usual children books you are used to read to your kids. The book is original and different and yet so easy to identify with (we want to stretch the time till bedtime) and to enjoy...The reader has to tell the story as he understands it as the text is very very minimal and basically we see the father declaring how many more minutes till bedtime (all this while reading the newspaper undisturbed!). Meanwhile, a whole "summer vacation" is rapidly passing through the house when the hamsters are visiting in an organized tour. The tour gets more "condensed" as bedtime approaches and the story reaches its climax (at least for my son and I ) in the bathtab scene page portraying all the hamsters in what seems to be like the French Riviera in summer.... (am I crazy to sense a little criticisem too or is this page just an honest portrayal of human nature?) very enjoyable to read and check out all the different activities going on and to see "the story inside the story". I am familiar with Peggy Rathmann's other books and love them as well but this one truly comes from a very creative mind...

Summary: What fun!
Review: This is a really cute book, although there's not much reading involved. It's about a boy and his hamster who give a "10 Minute Bedtime Tour" to a family of hamsters. Each of the 10 little hamster children has a personality all his own, and it's great fun looking over each page to see what they are up to. (One of the hamsters is even a scrapbooker!)
