Summary: Great Word/Picutre Book
Review: A fabulous word book with lots of variety that my son loves. I like the fact that some pages are different sizes and 'layered' so it makes it more interesting. The spiral binding makes it really easy for the kids to accidentially rip the pages out of this book, hence 4 stars instead of 5. We have had to tape them back in or we laminated the favorite ones and use them as placemats. It is really frustrating since it is one of my son's favorite books.

Summary: Great book!
Review: I got this book for my one year old twins, and they simply love this book. I also have Roger Priddy's "My Big Animal Book" which they also love. My Big Word Book is not a board book, but I still show this book to my girls. I like how this book contains a large variety of things we see everyday, and I use it to complement the animal book. My girls love looking at bright and colorful photographs, and I think this book is a great teaching tool for parents. I highly recommend this book for parents with young children.

Summary: The best word book I have seen!
Review: I have gotten numerous first word books for my two toddlers, and this one by far is the best. The pictures are fabulous, the words are words that are genuinely applicable, not wierd things that kids never use. The book also has a section with colors, the alphabet, shapes, and numbers. It is well organized and the pages aren't crammed so full of pictures and words that the kids can't focus on anything. There are several pictures/words on each page, but not too many. The pages are thicker than normal pages so they don't rip as easily, and it is spiral bound, so they turn easier. My little boy and little girl both LOVE this book, and I like it a lot better than other first word books that I have gotten for them. It's a high quality book, definitely worth getting!

Summary: Spiral binding is NOT a good idea for little fingers...
Review: I'm giving this book 1 star with great sadness because my 13-month-old loves it. However, the spiral binding is a terrible idea. We have some of the other Priddy Bicknell books, and they've held up just fine. For 13 months, she's actually very careful. But even adults have some problems with spiral bindings (think of those photo albums with pages starting to tear out), so it was no great surprise when some of the pages ripped. And because of the binding, you can't tape them back in. If you want to read this with your child, fine, but what kid doesn't want to turn the pages herself?? Either plan to replace this---FREQUENTLY---or buy some of the other Priddy books instead.

Summary: The Best Baby/Toddler book I've found!
Review: My daughter is almost 2 now and she recieved this book as a gift when she was 16 months old and has loved it every since!! She can now identify and say the names of about 80% of the book, which she uses in everyday life. Her vocabulary is way above where she should be at her age, and I think looking at this book with her has helped alot! She did manage to rip a few of the pages out of it, but that's no surprise seeing she is only a toddler. Another great thing about it is the pictures. They are real pictures that a child will see from day to day, not cartoons or drawings like you see in most books for this age. If you have problems with your child sitting still long enough for you to read a regular book like I do, this one makes a great alternative because it is all interactive and will likely hold your child's attention longer. This book is a must have for all children of preschool age!!

Summary: Great kick start to using words!
Review: My son loves this book! It came as a 1st birthday present from a friend who said her son loved this book.
The pages are sturdy and easy to turn. The pictures are great, and very appealling to a little one. It seemed like every time he opened the book, he saw something new.
The pages will rip out. This is not a book that is meant to be a "bookshelf only" book. I didn't mind that he ripped some pages out. Most of the time it was because he was trying to get to the page he loved most. The book also has a spiral binding, which makes it a little easier to rip the pages...however, it does make it easier for those little fingers to get used to turning pages one at a time.
This is an EXCELLENT gift for a first birthday or a nice treat for your toddler....Don't be surprised if this books goes everywhere with you!

Review: While "My Big World Book" is also terrific, this is even better, no questions asked. More relevant to daily life and words children NEED to know at the preschool age, this book helps children from all walks of life learn new words daily.
The picture quality is also excellent.

I would recommend this book most of all for all parents wanting to spend time with their child, teaching them to label and learn new nouns. It's fun!
