Rating: Summary: Wove a Web Around Me Review: BUT, my daughter loves it. It is one of her favorites, and unfortunately.. I have it memorized! She loves the rhyme, and looking at the different bugs. The bugs are very colorful. I guess the true test is in how much the child likes the book, hence the 5 star rating!
Rating: Summary: I fell in Love with Miss Spider at her tea party! Review: I happened upon Miss Spider about three years ago at the Denton public library. At the time my daughter was 3, I love the prose, I love the art, I love Miss Spider! David Kirk does a wonderful job of creating an adorable "mis-fit" Miss Spider is so misunderstood! None of the other bugs want to come to tea. The story breaks your heart then shows how persistance and kindness pay off! My daughter isn't as thrilled by the books as I am. but then again, I LOVE them. Thank God for people with such great imaginations as the author and illustrator of the Miss Spider series. I recommend Miss Spider to everyone, not just kids, the lessons are profound and the flowing prose style is wonderful. This is my very favorite book to read to children. I am a life long fan of Kirk!
Rating: Summary: Excellent story and Beautiful illustrations! Review: I have loved this book since it first came out. The pictures are beautiful- very detailed and fun to look at. I have never seen such pretty flowers and colors in a children's book. Since reading this book, I am a big fan of Miss Spider and collect Miss Spider toys, books, etc. The story sends a very good message to kids. The story rhymes which makes it fun to read aloud.
Rating: Summary: A horrendous and dangerous lesson for children Review: I wish I could give this book a lower grade than 1 star. For decades, children have been taught not to get into a car with strangers. To be careful of known and potential dangers. But along comes David Kirk, telling children that staying away from a known danger is just prejudice. It hurts the feelings of the one who presents the danger. How horrid! Miss Spider wants to throw a party. The bugs won't come, because spiders eat bugs. They don't refuse because Miss Spider is ugly or strange, but because she is dangerous. The story ends with them "realizing" that because she's nice, they don't have to worry about the danger. Recognizing danger and having irrational bias are two different things. Miss Spider's Tea Party blurs that difference and endangers children. Never let your children read this book.
Rating: Summary: a very colorful book Review: My two-year old and I have had the exquisite pleasure of exploring the world of Miss Spider together, and this entry in the series is as charming as the others (Miss Spider's Wedding, Miss Spider's New Car, etc.). A lonely Miss Spider wants to have a tea party, but all the other bugs flee in terror when they see her. By the end of the book (told in a series of rhyming verses), however, the other bugs discover an important secret: Miss Spider is kind and thoughtful, and, she only eats flowers. When word spreads that their perception of her was wrong, Miss Spider soon finds herself surrounded by new friends. What I love about David Kirk's books is his perfect blending of words and pictures. His tales are simple, elegant, moving stories about the power of love, the importance of friendship, and seeing beyond exteriors to the gold that dwells within every creature's heart, and his paintings are stunning. I highly recommend any of the Miss Spider (or Little Miss Spider) books. They are a treat for adults and children alike, destined to be favorite reads and lifetime classics.
Rating: Summary: I love miss Spider! Review: The "Miss Spider" books are pretty easy reads. Nice stories, wonderfully bright, and imaginatively styled illustrations!
My 3 year old is a little concerned with spiders in general and I think by giving a sweet personality to a spider, it helps to take the edge off of the spiders we may find in the house and in nature.
Rating: Summary: Beautiful Review: The artwork in this book will keep any child interested. It took my daughter a few reads to get into the story and she still prefers Miss Spider's New Car, but we read this book often.

Rating: Summary: Great for young ages! Review: We've been reading this to our little guy since he was three months old, if even that, and he was glued to it from the start, easily his favorite book, still, at nearly 13 months. Great color, great rhythm, and lots of fun bugs! :)
Rating: Summary: Vividly Gourgeous Illustrations-A Joy to Read! Review: ~ Miss Spider's Tea Party is one of those children's books that brings delight to the adult reader as well as the child. ~ The illustrations are beautiful and vividly intricate, but not too complex for children to enjoy, the story has a very gentle wit, that adults will appreciate. ~ Poor Miss Spider invites all kinds of insects to tea, but for some reason they seem reluctant to befriend her. : - ) ~ Happily, her naturally sweet charm wins her popularity in the insect kingdom over, as well as a true fan in the reader. Children really seem to love this simple tale, mostly for the beauty of the illustrations, and the sense of a happy conclusion approaching. I highly recommend this as a book you can enjoy reading with your child. And I would definitely also recommend the sequel "Miss Spider's Wedding"!
