Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great resource for the entire family!
Review: I was looking for an atlas for my 10-year old and 8 year-old and have been very impressed with this book. This book includes a section with general information on the U.S. including:types of vegetation, the natural environment, federal lands, endangered species, time zones, territorial growth, population, and transportation. The remainder of the book is divided up by region. Each region section begins with a "physical" map showing the major landforms and state boundaries. Two pages of beautiful photographs that you associate with National Geographic publications follow. The state maps are large and include icons of important economic activities. The state motto, population, bird, and plant are also included.

This has been an invaluable resource for our family. Our kids were most impressed by the pages showing where natural disasters such as volcanoes, tornadoes, floods, and earthquakes can occur. My 10-year old's teacher was so impressed with this book, she plans to order it for classroom use.
