Rating: Summary: Fun Way to Introduce a Skill Review: My 2nd grade class loved this moose, and thought the story was quite funny. Whenever possible I use a story to introduce reading strategies or skills. This story was used to introduce the prefix un-. I debated over a 4 star or 5 star rating. I decided on a 5 star because the humor was appealing to my second grade students.
Rating: Summary: Glue in hair? Review: My kids love this book because it is silly and gives creative solutions. However, as a parent, I wonder why the author came up with the ridiculous idea to put glue in the moose's hair to keep it out of the way!!!! I hope my daughters (ages 3 and 15 months) won't remember this the next time we get the glue bottle out for a craft project.
Rating: Summary: Fun Way to Introduce a Skill Review: We actually bought the Mooseltoe book first, which my 3 year old absolutely adored, then saw this book at the library shortly thereafter. Of course, we HAD to borrow it. After reading this book, we understood what the "tried and true family goop" was - glue! This is a fun book with a silly premice. A great preschooler book.
