Rating: Summary: A Rolie Polie Good Book! Review: I bought this for my daughter when it first came out. She was a year old then, and now going on five. She still likes to read this book. She has always enjoyed reading, and this book still is one of her favorites at bed time.
Rating: Summary: You can't fight the rhumba! Review: I have to admit that this is a somewhat reluctant 5 stars. Why? As an adult reader, I don't think this book is as good as William Joyce's other books, like "Dinosaur Bob", "George Shrinks", and my favorite "A Day with Wilbur Robinson".
But my 1 year-old does not agree. This is by far his favorite book in his young life. Whenever he sees the cover he starts doing what my wife and I call "crazy arms" -- waving his arms excitedly, making noise and moving around. Not sure what magic Joyce is weaving here -- but it works.
Also, while the words aren't pure poetry, it is fun to read aloud. We always do the "Rolie Polie Rhumba Dance" which our boy loves.
While I don't love the illustration style as much as the other Joyce books -- it is effective given the Rolie universe. So, while I might give this a 3.5, my son gives it 100 -- I guess I have to give it the full 5 stars.

Rating: Summary: My Kid Loves It Review: It's the kind of book your kid will keep bring it to you to read it over and over again. If you have seen the cartoons you'll even end up signing the song with the words to your child.
Rating: Summary: My 2-year-old can't get enough of Olie! Review: My 2-year-old has loved this book since I got it for his first birthday. We read it every night and never tire of it. It's fun to read and is a great bedtime book. I highly recommend it, especially for those kids who love the TV show.
Rating: Summary: Great reading for youngster Review: My child delights in this book. I have only had it for a week now but the pages are already becoming worn because he wants me to read it to him every time he sees it. He is only three and already he knows the book backwards and forwards. Forget about Barney or Teletubbies, Rolie Polie Olie has become his new favorite. The book features brightly animated pictures of the main character and depicts he and his family in a charming settin. They enjoy their day engaging in family activities. There is also a crucial element to the book that my son can definately relate to being that he sometimes becomes overworked and wired and is then not mindful of others. William Joyce portrays this one special point carefully as he shows the main character and his family in a happily ever after situation.
Rating: Summary: Great for discussing similarities and differences Review: My son (almost three) has been crazy about this book from the moment he saw the cover. It's about a toddler/robot named Rolie Polie Olie who lives on a distant planet. The gentle, rhyming story recounts his day with his family--breakfast, chores, play time, naughty behavior, bedtime. We spend a lot of time pointing out the similiarities and differences between our family and Olie's. For example, our house is shaped like a box; Olie's house is shaped like a teapot. Our vacuum stays on the ground; Olie's vacuum flies through the air and makes bubbles. This feature alone makes the book worthwhile. Be warned, however, that the poetic text with its odd phrases and syntax will be somewhat puzzling to toddlers; I'm still at a loss to explain, "Yes, okey dokey is the day when all you Rolie did was play." Some of the illustrations will also confuse--just try sorting out Olie's dad from the pogo stick and the tree house; it's all a mesmerizing mish-mash of odd shapes and bright colors. That said, the overall story is simple enough that it will carry young readers/listeners through the tough spots. And there is an awful lot here to enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Love Olie Review: My son loves Olie. He can't get enough of the little round world and all the cool gadgets. Olie is wholesome and funny and overall enjoyable. The illustrations are bright and colorful keeping kids attention. The words are big and colorful, allowing my son to point out his ABC's while we read.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT READING Review: My son loves Rolie Polie Olie. The illustrations are very bright, colorful and well done. We read Rolie Polie Olie almost every night. Great book for kids!!!!! We are ready for more and new adventures.
