Summary: The Hidden Staircase
Review: For you kids out there that don't know, the Nancy Drew series has been around since 1929. It was originally written by Mildred A. Wirt Benson, under the pseudonym 'Carolyn Keene'. The originals looked exactly like this- well, except they didn't have the gold sticker-thing.

But the terrible thing is that the originals were re-written, under the same name, but not by the same person, in the fifties. The books lost the spirit and fire that they had originally had, and, unless you were a frequenter (a LUCKY frequenter) of antique malls, you wouldn't be able to find the original text.

Until now.

These books are the originals, and I personally like them much more than the other, later editions. The stories are longer, the pictures are wonderful (they are) and the story itself is much better.

If you have a choice between a newer version and this one- there's no choice. Get this one.

Summary: One of the better Nancy Drew mysteries...
Review: I read the 1930 version of this book. Although all the original Nancy Drew books are fairly well-written, this is one of the more interesting and exciting books of the series.

Summary: "The Drew Review"
Review: Nancy Drew books have always been known as the number 1 mystery books, I agree. The Hidden Staircase leaves you suspensful and hanging. I would recommend ages 5-15 to read this book. Nancy is a teenage slew who lives a life of a detective and a teenager at the same time. She goes on a date then hears she has case to solve. This mystery is of The Hidden Staircase. Two old ladies claim to have a ghost living in their house, so they want Nancy to solve that mystery. At the same time her father has been kidnapped. So as you can tell, this story leaves you hanging and wondering if Nancy will pull through with all of this. If you read the book you can see what happens.

Summary: The Hidden Staircase
Review: The Hidden Staircase was a great book. It was exciting and sad at the same time. It made you want to read it over and over again because it is so good. I do think that that could have been more action because there was a little to much talking in it. I'm not one to really enjoy mysteries and this book gave me a whole new perspective of these kinds of books. I gave it 4 stars, again for the lack of action (not that there wasnt any but it neede more). I fully believe that every girl should read the Nancy drew series, they are so good every time you read it you never want to put it down. Every word keeps you on the ege of your seat.

Summary: A hidden stair case! CREEEEEEPY!
Review: The original Nancy is back! A sixteen year old, spunky heroine made popular in the 20's and 30's, she was sadly watered down in the 60's when the stories became severely edited. I discovered both versions eleven years ago when I was just eight years old, and the original 20's/30's versions have been my personal favourites ever since. In this book Nancy positively sparkles, trying to come to the aid of her kidnapped father as well as helping two elderly ladies solve a mystery in their own home. The relationship between father and daughter is extremely touching, and an element sadly neglected in all later versions of the series. A true delight to read and a treasure to rediscover again and again; although speech is at times somewhat old-fashioned, the story and its heroine are charmingly timeless, proving once more that a true classic never goes out of style.

Summary: The Hidden Staircase
Review: This book is about a detective named Nancy Drew who likes to solve mysteries and solving problems. She is a 18-years-old girl who hangs out with her two friends and sometimes they both help Nancy to solve mysteries. This Nancy Drew book is about two people living in a house and start seeing weird things like: something at the window, something moving, house's ceiling shakes like it is falling, and other actions that had frighten the girls and the two people living in it. There was a hidden staircase in the house that leads to another house that the two people had not know about. But can you find out who the person is that is behind all the troubles that had happened?

For all the people who likes to read mystery books, this book might be good for you. Maybe some people might now like it, but I consider that you should read the book. I like to read this book. I like to read mystery books. So for those people who likes to read mystery books, you can start reading Nancy Drew books with her solving crimes, missing things, and other mysteries.

Summary: The Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene
Review: This review concerns the original 1930 edition as well as the revised 1959 edition which closely follows the plot of the original, with a few minor changes. A couple of elderly ladies ask for Nancy's help in discovering the truth behind the mysterious things occuring at their house. In my opinion, this is the best book of the series and the only one that I would rate 5 stars. The book was rather well-written and the final few chapters were very interesting and really made me want to read more. My only problem with this book is it's title. I feel that the title, while very appropriate, gives away too much information about the mystery.
